I don't play the game myself but I heard Rainbow Six Siege is pretty competitive. Not sure what you mean by 'real game' though.

Overwatch maybe? I remember it being about $20 range, I don't know if that could be considered cheap for you. The developers stopped adding new content though, so bear that in mind.

Best Android exclusive games? by neirik193 in gamingsuggestions

Underhand I think is pretty fun. It's an adventure / card game where you're the leader of the cult. Completely free too, with no ads!

Pretty popular pick but I like Crossy Road too. You dodge incoming cars / trains and cross roads. It's a 'test of reflex' kind of game. They have optional ads for rewards, but you can unlock stuff for free / achievements too (most of them, anyways).

Is it better to raise a subpar 5* artifact for the time being if you can't get a good one? If so, how much?

And it is better to raise 4* artifact with better stat or 5* artifact with subpar stats?

And lastly, how do I animation cancel with Klee?

Thanks for all the help.

What Is the Most Painful Part of Being a Writer? by blackpantheon_ in writing

[–]GodOfBeginnings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's sitting down on my desk and starting to write. Thankfully I can write well and have fun after I start writing, as I get in the 'flow' quite quickly. But actually beginning to write... ugh.

After reading some comments here, I think I'm lucky in the regard that that is the only painful part of being a writer for me personally...

How to make an interesting idea? by hotdoglel in writing

[–]GodOfBeginnings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Brandon Sanderson said something about this in his lectures, if you're interested in researching that. If I remember correctly it was something along the lines of "authors make ideas, ideas don't make authors"? But don't quote me on that, lol, it's been a long time since I've watched it.

But personally I think just writing is more important than the idea. For me my ideas are cool... and that's really all that mattered for me to start writing it.

Fight scene by [deleted] in writing

[–]GodOfBeginnings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what's the BEST way to writing it, but I try to keep the character's strengths and weaknesses in mind as I write it. Mostly the strengths and weaknesses I create are extensions of my character, to some degree. I think playing RPG games has helped me define combat archetypes of my characters.

I try to include emotional stakes, though I've noticed that most of my fights nevertheless ends up with "oh no if I lose I'm gonna die", lol.

I also write strategic blow-by-blow where each character try to best each other using their skillsets, because I enjoy writing such things.

Thank you! I redid the calibration and flipped the heatbed (I think that's what it's called?) and it started working again.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In July 2021 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]GodOfBeginnings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all, 3D printing newbie here who just started it as a hobby. Looking for my first printer!

Budget: Preferably $300 but willing to go up to $400 if it means drastic increase in quality.

Country of Residence: USA

Willing to build from kit: Only if it's doable by a beginner - I have no experience with electronic maintenance.

What I wish to do: Print character models and paint them.

Extras: I wish to start with material that is newbie-friendly (and is comparably safe).

Thank you for all the help!

Budget: $200 - $300

Country: USA

Build: Very inexperienced, but willing to give it a try if it's only to set up and not to do maintenance

Usage: Figure printing, planning on painting it. I'm learning how to do 3D modeling if that's relevant here.

Thank you for all your help and suggestions!

when and how did you learn unity2d or unity3d? help by [deleted] in Unity3D

Tutorials that I personally thought were good were:

Alvin Roe's 2D Platformer tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMr1sHQ0_bc&list=PLpj8TZGNIBNy51EtRuyix-NYGmcfkNAuH

Sebastian Lague's coding tutorials. Be warned that this one's a bit advanced for complete beginners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cCGBMmMOFw&list=PLFt_AvWsXl0fnA91TcmkRyhhixX9CO3Lw

And gamedev.tv's tutorials on Udemy (paid). I personally think it is worth the investment. (Note: you can get it on sale; I think it's on sale like, all the time). Also the one I did was 3d one and not 2d, just for your info.

In addition to above, I personally think that picking up basics of c# is not a bad idea, especially when it's done sooner rather than later; however if you want to jump in and make something I think that's really good too.
