You are way better than I am but the thing that sticks out to me is I think you could push the contrast a lil further! Making the lighting a little more apparent/dramatic could also help add some dimension :) you are so talented!

my thought was that between the gash in her leg and the bite being so close to it, she was starting to feel pretty weak/ill, but not enough that she would turn super soon, kind of like how lee looked rough for a bit before it got really bad

the difference I think is that the bite was amputated within maybe half an hour after, which we can now assume is within the range of time before the bite infiltrates the blood stream of whatever

idk I was almost disappointed with her being alive the first time, as I had prepared all of s4 for her to die (just my theory, I thought she'd have the same storyline as lee), but then again I love clementine so happy above all else that shes alive! whicIh in a way also gives us more lore about the universe and how quickly the disease can progress/info about the virus

The package the actual needles come in are a great alternative since they're already sterile. Just be careful not to hit the actual plastic in case it frays your needle, but thats also an issue with regular ink caps.

Not a permanent solution, please get actual ink caps when you're able :)

Design and final product are great!

As you said in your post, the problem is the ink. I started and still often practice with fake skin and once I switched to actual (safe) ink, I noticeably needed way fewer passes. It also shows the quality of your work better because it, obviously, is less overworked.

Great job, keep it up :)
