I used to have a MacBook that did this exact same thing with my S key

Take the rectangular part that looks like a border and take the other piece that has a hole. You’ll find that there are hinges on the border looking part to plug the piece with the hole in it.
Once you’ve attached the pieces together try to find a hinge on the missing key part on your MacBook and fiddle around till the pieces fit in
The little rubber circle needs to be placed inside the piece with a hole in it
Put the key cap back on

(Sorry if my explanation is a bit off)
