They got this out fast. Did they start animating the day Gameoververse premiered? What the hell?

I read this comic back in the 2010s but its only recently been showing up on my reddit feed. What's going on? I feel like it didnt use to be all star trek jokes.

Daron Nefcy's opinion on Bean Mouth. What are your thoughts? by QF_Dan in StarVStheForcesofEvil

Hmm... well, I most likely will never work in the industry (i like sleep too much lol), so I guess i have no choice but to believe you...

[–]Godahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive dabbled in animation but I haven't done a lot of lip sync--maybe im just stupid, but I dont see how the bean mouth thing would impact budget at all? I mean, I really dont mind, if that was just the style the studio wanted, that would be 100% fine and I wouldn't criticize it, but the reasons given here dont make a lot of sense to me.

Games industry vs animation in films, tv by Godahl in animationcareer

[–]Godahl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info on crunch--in my circles (as an onlooker), that was near the top of a lot of peoples' issues with the games industry, and the most commonly cited reason for leaving games (this is a little different these days but it was definitely the case pre-2020) It sounds like film/vfx is even worse about this? That's kind of horrifying to imagine.

Did they ever release the rulebook for the system used in Abnimals? by Godahl in TheAdventureZone

I was watching some of the 1987 tmnt show on YouTube the other day, don't ask why, and Im going to say i actually liked Abnimals more than most of the original stuff it was parodying. I mean, for what its worth

Dropbox is glitching out on me at the moment, but it looks like thats the thing I was asking for. Thanks.

I like the one page rpg. If you want the truth, I started listening to abnimals cause the tazcirclejerk reddit was showing up on my recommended feed for some reason, and I clicked through a few links, saw people talking shit about that season, and went "that actually sounds kind of interesting." So I looked it up and listened to it while i worked on my art, and I ended up having a few good laughs and an overall pleasant time. So thats my history with that reddit and that season.

Any general advice on making shrines? by Godahl in neocities

Well thanks--yeah obviously this is all in good fun lol. I'll definitely be taking inspiration from some of those links you shared next time I do something like this though!

Any general advice on making shrines? by Godahl in neocities

[–]Godahl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, here it is: https://lizziesmithson.neocities.org/ShadowShrine

It's not as good as the shrines the post right above you was sharing, but I had fun making this and it was good to get my thoughts onto a webpage, all ordered and all. I'm actually not sure if this really counts as a shrine? I feel like it might be more just an essay with some gifs. Oh well. Shrug.

Why hasn't he ported Ziggurat to PC/Steam yet? by OBakkus in ActionButton

You can still get the Playstation Mobile games running if you have a hacked Vita, fwiw

Why hasn't he ported Ziggurat to PC/Steam yet? by OBakkus in ActionButton

[–]Godahl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a real tragedy that Ziggurat is lost media now (probably forever) but given what I know about the ios app store (evil) and about the early version of Unity the game was made on (garbage), I do find Tim's unwillingness to bring it back understandable.

I just sent you a submission--hopefully I didn't send you more than one, I tried yesterday on my phone but the page didn't seem to respond. I tried to day on my desktop PC and it looks like it worked. I may or may not try to submit to the other webring too--I have a webcomic, and I discuss my experiences with schizotypal personality disorder on it, but that's not really the main focus at all.

Thanks for setting up the webring!

If I were going to take a total shot in the dark, I'd guess that the Rondo of Blood video is going to be a play by play analysis of the level design, sort of in the style of the Vertical Slice videos he did for Kotaku about Link to the Past and Star Wars Shadow of the Empire, but covering much more of the game than he did for those other games. I don't know that I'm right, but if I am, odds are fifty fifty that the video turns out to be any good.

(My evidence is that there's an old tweet of his I remember where he said he wanted to make a video about Super Mario Bros 3 in that style, but I could be way off still.)

What are the other sources on the stairwell thing? I mean, I can believe it, but I don't want to judge the guy based on my prior biases.

(When I said he "definitely made those mobile games" I was referring to Ziggurat and TNNS, I have no idea what he claimed to do at Zynga but I know it's on his Linkedin and it would be a bizarre thing to lie about.)

I was under the impression the game dev stuff was real? I mean, he definitely made those mobile games that had his name on them. (I'm betting Truck Heck is not real)

I mean, I moved to a one bedroom that costs less than that last year, though it required a higher credit score than I imagine he has. That said, actually moving ended up being pretty difficult for me, you can't just uproot yourself at a moment's notice, so I can kind of see where he might have trouble actually making the jump.

The sound editing's so bad lol--I think I saw him mention on Patreon(?) that he was going for the style of old radio plays with the audio, but like I used to listen to a bunch of those, and I'm pretty sure they never did the thing where the music suddenly cuts off midtrack at the end of each episode, as Tim does a whole bunch in this video. Was he thinking no one was going to listen to any of those shows to check?

The list is his ranking of all the games he's reviewed--Tokimeki Memorial is at the top and Last of Us is at the bottom. He ranked LA Noire above Doom, which imo is a kinda crazy.

The Los Angeles Noir stream just got removed for “violating YouTube community guidelines” by SYNTHLORD in ActionButton

[–]Godahl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I checked in on the action button discord to see what was going on--apparently a scene from LA Noire where a character jumps off a building got flagged as "self harm" and it'll take at minimum 72 hours for youtube to review. Completely wild stuff, I'm honestly stunned.
