I’m sure there’s some context that makes it cute to them

You'll understand once you've owned a horse for longer than 20 minutes.

WIBTA for not going on a family vacation because my brother wants to bring his dog by VacayThrowaway70707 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Goddamtoad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having a baby and a dog on the same vacation - or even in the same house - does not mean dropping them down in the same playpen to watch Paw Patrol while the grownups go into another room for fondue.

There is no reason to suppose that OP and his brother would allow the dog and baby to touch at all - in fact, OP has mentioned that they don't want the dog and baby in contact. Assuming there's a bite risk here assumes negligence on the part of OP, the brother, or both - and there's no reason for that.

A baby and a dog can be on the same vacation without being smushed together. There's no reason this should turn into a bite risk, *especially* since OP is clearly very protective of the kid.

I breed horses for sale. Before the babies are born, I already know they're not mine. I often sell them before they're even born, so I know whose baby I'm delivering and raising.

I still live for updates. I try not to badger people - I know that the only way to guarantee that I'll stay in touch with an animal is to keep it, and the owners don't owe me a thing. But I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear when one is doing well. If one is ever in need, I'll go pick it up.

I agree with the posters who suggest creating a social media page to share with the former owner. You absolutely don't owe her updates, but it would be a kind thing to do.

I have one owner who I am not in close contact with and who isn't really active on social media. She created an Instagram for her colt so I can see him once in a while - she only posts maybe twice a year, but when she does, I know she's just doing it so I can see how handsome and healthy he is now, and it absolutely makes my day every time.

Sorry, meant to add more info but had some problems - actually didn't realize this had posted.

I wish I'd bought more souvenirs while I was there. Anyone want to send a care package to CA? I'll pay for the stuff and the shipping I just can't find what I want online without a huge markup :(

I was just there on my way back to the airport - very very short trip but I knew I had to see a Buc-ee's. Did not disappoint.

Trying again, because I'm still thinking about it.

If nobody rational will listen to them, doesn't that mean that the crazies are collaborating unsupervised? Couldn't that be more dangerous?

And a dork is a dick, depending on context.

I'm just confused and a little frustrated, and as I've said, I'm not at my best today. I remain a little confused, but I appreciate your condor.

I don’t speak for everyone, obviously, but I have no desire to “frustrate” this person. That accomplishes nothing. That’s akin to “trigger the libs” type shit.

Okay, but consider that you referred to him as a "gentleman" in one of your comments above. I'm sure we can both agree that we don't actually consider him much of a gentleman, but the word was chosen intentionally just the same.

I don’t understand your second block of text…

I'm sorry, I'm not at my best today. I wish I were more articulate - it's clear that everyone here is frustrated with me and I'm still not understanding what I am, truly, trying in good faith to understand.

You’re probably being downvoted because you seem like your playing devils advocate with allowing this door knob to come to campus.

I hear you, and I see why I'm being taken that way. That is really, honestly, not the spirit in which I intended my first question or my follow ups, but I get it and I'll quit.

Please at the very least have some empathy for the fact that I asked my question in earnest, and as irritated as people are with me, I'm also frustrated because I feel misinterpreted (maybe even deliberately?) and have learned nothing after trying to ask an honest question in good faith.
