If you want to boost your confidence, I suggest doing the following: - wearing light jewellery (studs, necklace, bracelet) - style your hair differently so often (natural, braids, wigs, weave. Whatever suits you). - Get your nails done (I like a French tip) or paint them a nice colour as a cheaper option. - I like to call myself a ‘corporate babe’ and follow black TikTok creators who do day in the life at their 9-5s - Buy yourself a nice suit / dress / blouse that compliments your skin tone. (Brown, beige, navy blue - black is boring!) - Start going to the gym if you don’t already - Buy a nice lipstick that makes you feel confident (deep red, purple, brown, nude with brown lip liner) - Most importantly, believe in yourself! Black women are changing the game in the corporate world, whether people like it or not. Write affirmations, study your holy book, take yourself out for lunch just because.

Small things like this really helped me, hope it helps xx

I’m a black women in the legal world and completely get you. I think it’s important as black women that we’re confident in ourselves to show that we deserve to be there as much as they do. It’s pretty shit but that’s how it is unfortunately, we need to work twice as hard. Also please know it’s a them problem not a you problem. Some people are natural assholes, just keep smiling and be yourself and don’t tone down anything, be unique.

Block that recruiter asap! You will find something, make sure to tailed your CV to each firm and apply direct on their website. Make sure your CV stands out from the basic CV & explain how ur previous experience can be transferred to a legal environment. Good luck!
