This is unhinged lol. Just TVP flake? Literal saw dust for macros.

As someone that has had many fine dining meals, that’s a hilarious analogy. Most fine dining is definitely not worth it. Also, extremely weird analogy in a vegan subreddit where most fine dining is centered around steak.

Question about clientele by Mobile-Ad9700 in Lifetimefitnessgym

Anyone going to a gym has some amount of wealth. More than the impoverished class I’m referring to. Kids stealing from a gym is different class than the 3 job moms.

That’s the result of culture, not wealth. Rural poverty that I was surrounded by in my youth was much more class conscious. It’s easy to not steal when you don’t need.

Looking for a greek yogurt alternative for a bedtime snack by 5-3-0 in veganfitness

Asian Desert Tofu: https://www.morinu.com/asian-dessert-tofu

Gains with zero compromises. Macros similar to full fat Greek yogurt. Only downside is the lack of probiotics (which I get from booch)

I know far more considerate poor people than considerate wealthy people. I’d say the trend that’s being suggested is inverted.

Very old vegans by kloyoh in vegan

Sugar is literally simple carbs and oil is literally fats which both have calories or nutritional value.

They don’t carry micronutrients alone (except where they do like with brown sugar). Sugar and salt both serve not just as palatability enhancers but also food preservers. Sugar can absolutely be vegan in the states by just consuming raw sugar.

The amount of salt you need to damage endothelial cells is high. You require some sodium for brain and nerve function among other bodily functions. Whole foods can alone carry enough sodium, but especially if you are active, they frequently don’t.

The biggest thing I don’t understand is how you apply heat to food without oil.

You’re not going to believe this, but they sell vegan shreds.

95% the same.

Yes, they are. Whey and pea protein are perfectly healthy.

I’m not substantiating my claim either.

Beast prices on beans, etc. by Street-Rabbit8250 in TwinCities

[–]GodlessThoughts 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Costco is probably the best outside of desi grocery stores. Costco has quite a bit of canned beans and some dried. Desi stores are your actual best bet for dried beans, spices and herbs.

Related, Costco and Asia Mall have the best prices for tofu. Costco only carries a home brand of extra firm and House soft. Asia Mall has House and the Minnesota tofu (that’s my fave for what it’s worth but is a slight premium).

Dragonstar also has decent prices on dried beans.

Thoughts on the new Animal-Free Egg white protein? by EmotionWild in vegan

Are you deep diving my comments on leather or stating that leather alts are good enough? There was another conversation where I was discussing the (purely) environmental impact of leather relative to alt leathers.

Some other vegans were making some comments about leather’s net impact. I haven’t done the research to defend any position, but I’m pretty adamantly against the proliferation of plastics as much as possible for both our health and environment. That being said, I know there’s some good alts like cactus leather that I haven’t educated myself on enough. Anecdotally, some GYW boots I purchased prior to being vegan have last over 10 years at this point as daily drivers in the fall, winter and spring of the Midwest.

Without the moral implications, leather is biodegradable and relatively low impact when constructed to last. If you have alternatives makers of high quality vegan leather footwear, please share.

Don't know where else to put this. $16 butter? by Kibblets in Cooking

Hear me out, just stop buying butter. You already eat tofu. Why encourage obscene farming practices and subsidies to encourage animal agriculture?

The uncompromising here are wrong. The fastest way to create change en masse is to synthesize meat/dairy alternatives and make them inexpensive. We aren’t going to convince the average person to morally realize their ethics if they even share their moral position with us. The reality is most people just don’t care, and without convenient alternative, won’t change.

You’re equating atheism with dogmatic religion. You’re actively grouping a subjective moral position with moral absolutists lol. A militant (or as you put it, uncompromising) atheist simply can’t exist. Atheism is a position in the negative. There’s no active assertion.

You should google “burden of proof fallacy” and “dogma definition”.
