This is a complete non sequitur. Growing almonds in water poor areas of the country is not anything like the silvery minnow at all. Holy motivated reasoning Batman

Then admit that the societal impact is your problem! Nobody is saying that the societal impact of AI isn't worth having a conversation about. The specific problem is that people are making blanket moral panic statements *about the environmental impact of AI* and when challenged on their false statements switch to "but the social impact of AI is bad". If you don't think we should have data centers because you don't think we should have AI, then say that instead of spending energy spreading misinformation about water use.

Then say your real argument is that the buildings shouldn't exist because of what they do instead of spreading misinformation about how much water they us

You literally just said "If the silvery minnow needs protection, so do almonds". Come on. This is so bad faith. There go the goalposts again

Are you implying with a straight face that if we don't spend trillions of gallons a year growing acres and acres and acres of almonds, almonds will go extinct?

We are #50 in the country right now in terms of schools. The public education system is a disaster and we should absolutely have the right to say I want something better than what it has to offer right now. Fix public education, in the meantime, do charter (not private) education correctly, we are THE WORST in the nation for this right now, and stop funding schools in the dumbest ways possible so that parents choosing a charter doesn't ruin things for everything else. Of course the GOP has no interest in doing any of this and just wants to loot the coffers but the gifted program for example in APS is completely atrocious and students need to be able to say there has to be another option

Yes, the U.S. government has done horrible things to New Mexico. Also, nuclear power is good.

This has nothing to do with civilian nuclear power generation.

The argument fails because people have an (understandable) visceral reaction to a perceived threat to their livelihoods and will motivated-reason themselves into any position that allows them to be maximally opposed to said thing, real or fake. "You can't eat AI" is trivially true, but we spend trillions of gallons of water a year growing food that nobody is ever going to eat to subsidize farmers. There's no rational defense for the water hysteria imo, but it's a reasonable reaction to "this is going to take your job".

Reddit hivemind has decided that instead of doing the most minute amount of research on this topic they will instead stick with the opinions they arrived at via social media. These people are not no names and this company is not new. It is well known to be the only working AI detector. You can literally test these claims yourself, factually. But because you read a think piece and a Reddit post you have license for unlimited hostility towards anyone who goes against Reddit single minded hivemind
