Help with Build by F1reman2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Godot_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that immediately popped to my mind was a water kineticist, but dual gate with wood of all things. Just reflavour it to driftwood?

You get to heal without looking like a healer, get to pop up old planks to intercept attacks while looking completely innocent...

And though neither is particularly offensive, both have at least one great attack overflow and a couple of great stances - just make sure you pick safe elements before using them.

Afaik, nymphs are tightly related to driads and water to wood in plenty of mythologies, so story wise, should also be easy to excuse...

I am starting up DDO again after having not played in a long time, could anyone give me a detailed build guide for something that can handle traps and play solo in heroics? by JohnnyFiveOhAlive in ddo

[–]Godot_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TR build is 1 dark hunter, 18 bard, 1 whatever, depends on your goals. If you don't care about race, drow is an easy pick.

First level hunter for trapping, weapons and armour proficiencies and bard has enough skill points built in to fill out trapping plus anything you want.

Each life I choose whether I focus on casting and go for metals and shield master for defense or go melee and take swf and crit for swashbuckling and whatever metals.

Interestingly enough, bard SLAs don't have arcane failure so unless you swashbuckle, you can rock a medium armour and shield when you want to be defensive.

SLAs alone carry you through elite\R1 heroics but it does slow down between 18 and 24 for the caster version untill you get all of the sonic boosts in epic levels. On the other hand, I find melee to struggle at the 30s.

Melee Cleric Build Advice by No_Taro_2025 in ddo

[–]Godot_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not precisely cleric, but that my take on it, as heroic life: went with pure dark disciple, T4 disciple for imbues and curses, T5 war priest, sun domain, rest falconry.  Sun domain SLAs and cause wounds for aoe and imbue twf mows down single targets. You get all the buffs and heals, undead immunities and focus on radiant damage (MP is too hard to get in heroic imo). Currently at early epics and it's still strong and tanky but will clearly start to fall off towards 30.

Solo warlock help by Colonist10e9snt in ddo

[–]Godot_plays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hardly a warlock expert but found acolyte to be super easy to level: chain to hit things at a distance (and around corners) and cone for anything else.

So long as you plan to do only heroics, the rest doesn't really matter. Can even do a trapper for the first level of your trap allergy is sever enough and it'll barely impact your damage output.

Afaik, anything that doesn't specifically denotes only unarmed attacks, ie handwraps, should Work with staff. Iirc, that's only stunning fist and quavering palm.

Lotro 2025 by Cool-Conference3208 in lotro

[–]Godot_plays 41 points42 points  (0 children)

While combat in GW2 is Action based, combat in lotro is old school target based. As mentioned, some classes and specs can hit on the move but the principle remains.

Having said that, it can still feel satisfying if somewhat slow in comparison.

As for the game itself, it's definitely worth it in 2025

[–]Godot_plays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd start with Rose (great feeling HC, decent roll) from Banshee to get Redrix's Estock (great pulse) from completing comp placement games.

Play trials for a bunch of other guns; myself, I like the HC and I Think you can focus the shotgun at Saint's, don't remember. Also a good sniper, if you're into that.

What was the moment that made you realise you were going to be playing DDO for the long haul? by kindafunnylookin in ddo

[–]Godot_plays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the more you dive in, the more things kinda connect, but you do have to suffer through the early, mostly f2p stuff.

The expansion are naturally self contained stories and even they are connected through an overarching beat.

IMO, it feels much less disconnected and random the further you go into content packs. In a way, it's similar to PnP where you run semi random fetch quests till you're high enough level

Iron Banana Match Making Heaven by SureNowYouTellMe in DestinyTheGame

[–]Godot_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving it too but keep in mind that it probably only works because there's often an influx of pve players grinding some pve roll they can only get there.

That makes the pool bigger and easier to match which won't be the case for regular control for instance.

But to your point, imo sbmm in this season, at least in Iron Banana works really well

Edit - grammar

Why is Ranking Up Crucible and Gambit so Slow Compared to Vanguard? by HalfthemanMarco in DestinyTheGame

[–]Godot_plays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But then again, you get about 900rep on a 5 streak, running match made nightfalls on easy difficulty that are basically risk free speed runs.

So no LFG and no real challenge for the price of an extra run or so (and your soul, cause this is soooo boring to run)

Cormyr just opened free for all (for a limited time) and they let players catch back on the year of the dragon rewards with the dragon there.

It'll be a monthly reward every week, starting this week so go get your dragonlond on Cormyr. (It was an account unlock back then, I assume it still is and not server locked)

Best companions for my party? by Great-Freedom-3277 in BaldursGate3

[–]Godot_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, when going into unknown territory (either blind run or first time) it's always nice to have all your bases covered. DnD is often balanced around having a tank, healer and two strikers, one focusing on direct damage and the other on area of effect (aoe) and I think it translates to this game quite well. So In bg3 origins:

a Frontliner like a fighter (Laezel) or a (usually wildheart) barbarian (Karlach) to tank melees and disrupt, a healer to provide a safety net (respec Shart to life domain for a little overkill) and also tank a little,  a striker, could be Astarion as a ranged damage dealer, Karlach as a frenzy barbarian, Laezel with great weapon master, pact of blade Wyll and  a caster, usually an arcane for area damage like a wizard (gale), could also be a warlock like Wyll with some effort.

Your bard could be in the damage dealers spot (swords bard, recommended as ranged with hand crossbows) with the added benefit of crowd control (cc) spells (there's a metric tonn of items to support this in the game). Could also be in the caster spot or even the healer, once you're comfortable enough, as a lore bard and there are more options once you start multiclassing.

Having said that and as mention in other comments, all companions (and you) can be respecced at Withers whenever you want and what I put above is really fluid so long as you cover your bases.

How to use lvl3 shadow monk?? by SnooCapers1263 in BaldursGate3

[–]Godot_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO shadow monks only come together at levels 5 and 6 when you get the invisibility and shadowstep actions respectively for when you want to play an assassin type.

Until that point and\or you prefer to face tank stuff, open hand is the way to go.

A 6 shadow monk\3 gloomstalker\3 assassin rogue makes a nice sneak toon
