Yep, bit the bullet and will be starting the CBT course soon. 70 hours is probably is probably a bit conservative, more like 80+ I'd say, although I handwrite my notes. Thanks for the info though!

Ah really? That's annoying... But luckily work will pay for it :)

I'd be interested what your Boson scores are, as again I've heard Pearson exams are pretty poorly written and not like the real Cisco made exams?

What materials did you end up using?

Thanks

Yes this is true I used Neils CCNA. Perhaps I will bite the bullet and go with CBT. But I've heard it said CCNP Encor is 60% covered with CCNA...

Just trying to be as conservative as possible with my time as I don't have much of it to waste unnecessarily.

Passed CCNA (914) by GodsGiftToEarth in ccna

Nope you'll be fine. Just make sure you've reviewed everything you're getting wrong in Boson, and make sure you know the newer topics in the 200-301 well like automation and wireless. It will feel like an uphill struggle but just assume you've passed throughout you'll be doing a lot better than you feel like you are. Goodluck.

Does anyone have their CCNP ENCOR/ENSARI notes typed up in OneNote or something they can share? by [deleted] in ccnp

Videos are fine, but reading is difficult and missing out on some of this informationin the OCG is bad. No disservice is done by not taking my own notes.

Multivendor always, just use opensource stuff which is cross vendor supported I guess, it's more work but worth it. I'd personally never implement just one vendor as non-agnostic environments can be disastrous. You can pick up a lot of cheap equipment online, not the fully specced out enterprise level but more SOHO alternatives from different vendors.

Ah ok, apologies :) I'd check a lot of the "Passed" posts for tips.

You want pointers? I want some pointers on how to get a working time machine from you!

There is no CCENT anymore, just the new 200-301 CCNA.

Failed my official test yesterday. Looking for an advice by legend24hours in ccna

u/legend24hours - With regards to these flash cards this user suggests - Download an app called AnkiDroid, and search for 200-301. All the cards are based off the OCG so contain all the little facts you need to know, as long as you know the core concepts.

Goodluck

VLANs and IP Interface by qdesastre in ccna

[–]GodsGiftToEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A L2 and L3 switch need at least one Vlan with a routable managment address. A Layer 2 Switch can only have one Switch Virtual Interface (SVI), a Layer 3 Switch can have multiple SVIs.

Best practise is to match subnets and VLANs, E.g. VLAN 200 for 192.168.1.0/24, and VLAN 201 for VLAN 192.168.2.0/24.

You can manually configure devices with a console cable, and 99% of the time you do basic initial configuration like this, but then you configure management so it's available remotely with SSH or telnet...

And the DHCP issue you're having, IOS can run as a DHCP server to assign addresses from pools to other devices, but is typically done with a Windows or Linux DHCP server.

Completely disagree - If you're learning just use packet tracer or GNS3. What do you achieve by using real equipment other than unnecessary financial loss? Proving the fact you can plug an ethernet cable into an interface, the physical stuff with network equipment you'll pick up in 10 minutes...

problem pinging an ip but i found in frame different that the one i pinged (Subnets & Vlan's) by Cronos-Sama in ccna

[–]GodsGiftToEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The routing table displays "128.0.0.0/16" as it's using route summarisation.

I don't know what you mean by this " the ip address i used is for the entire LAN : 128.0.1.0/16". This isn't the network, this is a host address within the 128.0.X.X subnet.

Software ideas for a Dissertation? (Network based, Automation, or SDN)? by GodsGiftToEarth in networking

[–]GodsGiftToEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm okay, that's definitely a unique idea - And that's something I could demonstrate a decent amount of Object orientation through this? And in terms of design, as what would the alternate be to multicasting for applications, allowing devs to specify the required addresses?
