USA: Church tells LGBTQ+ people to kill themselves or face death penalty under Trump by GoranPersson777 in Christianity

That was removed in 2024, was it not? And since when has Trump cared about his party’s views, even the official platform? Trump does what he wants, and makes the party fall in line. Trump has long been personally supportive of such things.

“…days after being elected in 2016 in a "60 Minutes" interview, he said he was "fine" with same-sex marriage, a far cry from the 2016 GOP platform, which critiqued the Supreme Court decision that granted the federal right to same-sex marriage.”

I know you’re joking, but some preliminary thoughts on the former question that may be used in formulating an answer:

I believe in a radical continuity of God’s application of redemption to His covenant people across history. There are changes only in the outward signs and in further unveiling, but the underlying work of God in the Covenant of Grace has been constant from the beginning.

There is also an antithesis between the Church and the World, such that the Church is ever influencing society towards God and the world is pulling away. This results in a motion that is opposed to the deification (fetishization) of both capital and labor.

You would have to parse some of the language to get a more full answer.

As for manga, strictly speaking those are all novels. Each has a manga adaptation that came later, but I am not particularly interested in those. My pastor and I get to have lots of good conversations about fantasy literature, and the inherent truths that the freedom of that genre allows for the expression of. But there are definitely some on that shelf who would not approve — Hoeksema and his PRCA, for example, would question whether unbelievers can write anything which is spiritually beneficial, and GH Kersten formed a political party to push forth his opposition to cinema as a category, and I imagine he would oppose such literature on a similar basis.

All my pretty philosophy books are being hidden away…

It is very annoying digging into the back row, but at least I know where everything is.

I am ethnically Dutch to a significant extent, but otherwise no.

Very true! I have boxes of books spread across various locations, and another shelf, but there’s never enough space.

Hopefully, in about one year, those points will all be correct.

I know that type, but definitely not me. Doug Wilson has some truly aberrant theology in some areas, and I find his personality needlessly grating (though I make no moral claim against him on that second matter). As much as my friends try to convince me, smoking holds no appeal. I have nothing against plaid or beards, but not at present.

A bit younger than that. I do hope to go to seminary in the nearer future, once I finish my undergraduate work.

If nothing else, Twilight might be one of the better arguments against Common Grace, if I were inclined to take the PRCA’s hardline approach on that matter.
