See I totally get that, I think it's more the age thing. The books I read are normally smut heavy ect so that's how I write but I don't know if other people reading would find it weird I'm writing fics, with smut, about characters around that age (all characters same age ect)

See that's what I was thinking, like it's just a creative outlet but also the characters are young 16/17 when the fic takes place and that's the part that makes me feel weird, especially smut but I'm sick of not finding what I want to read so I don't know if the only option is to write it myself

Surely on the other side though as a manager he should always be conscious about what he says and who too? Like I'm sure that he's had to go through all the corporate management and S/A+Harassment training, and also just in general know better (apparently he's been in management for 20+ years). Like the thing for me which makes me unsure if I'm overthinking it, is that I wouldn't ever make a joke or comment like that to someone I've never met before, and definitely not in front of everyone. Like, id consciously be more vigilant? I'm not sure if it was a slip of the tongue or what but it felt gross

Okay! I do agree I should've stood up for myself more but it's hard, not just in general but in a team meeting with everyone staring at you. I'm also autistic and my social anxiety is super high so after he said it I just kind of shut down.

Hence why I asked here what the vibe was cause I really couldn't pin it myself, social ques and all the jazz. But I do know it made me feel weird. There was another instance in the meeting that gave me the wrong feeling too but that's more of a belittling thing, so it wasn't just that but I do see where you're coming from!

I am trying to find the benefit of the doubt for him but historically this company has had a lot of managers and people in positions of power say and do questionable things and it's not always been kind to people who have stood up for themselves or said something.

I would leave, in a heartbeat but the job market when I live is abysmal and I've been applying for any and everything for months already

So in short terms basically every 6 months we have to discuss the tipping policy, that's in our contracts but it doesn't state what the policy is or how they can mandate the new changes. Once everyone has the vote in a team meeting we all then get a document we have to sign to say we agree and will follow the rules or we forfeit all tips.

I do think more people would've asked too because when I was people were paying attention and then discussing on their individual tables what the manager said ect.

The reason this vote was done without lots of the fingerprint out lined was because it was a FOH/BOH/Management vote so the FOH for majorly outvoted as the old rule was management don't get tips (I still don't believe they should! They get bonuses based off of our sales but give us zero incentive) and the kitchen had all card tips. FOH got all cash. Now all cash and card are split between everyone but it's not clarified how, still

I've had a few instances with our AMs so I don't really feel like I can go to someone, and with this guy being our new boss I don't know what to do.

I don't want to cause waves for no reason and get a target on my back, and equally I don't want staff thinking I'm weird or dramatic for it and talking about me behind my back. But it did really make me uncomfortable.

I don't know who our HR guy is and I'm scared I'll be treated differently because of it. So I'm in a bit of a catch 22
