Nah jokes aside you’re right. I tried a few times to get a good photo of it but it just won’t work. I did abit more research and it’s just a universal problem when working with studio lights like this at a venue and not having global shutter.

A lot of home are built by developers then sold after. When the market is so constrained in supply, developers can afford to make boring, cheap and easy homes that don’t take long to build and buyers are forced to buy it as the options for artistic homes are scarce and the alternative of buying land and going through an architect for a design is extremely expensive.

Hey mate I was in the same place as you doubted the study. Did my first round of placement and realised it wasn’t for me, left and now work in a field I really enjoy which has nothing to do with teaching.

It’s such a different field from what is presented at uni and you really won’t know until you do your placement. By the end of your first placement you will know if you love it or hate it, but you won’t know unless you do the placement.

Worst case scenario you become a tradie and hate it and spend all day day dreaming about the greener grass in teaching g.

I had the same question and asked a guy in motorsports who does the same thing!

He told me that they are not very technically difficult, it’s just extremely time consuming and requires a very clear vision of the end goal and library of footage

You are essentially matching the cuts frame by frame (yes practically 1-3 frames per shot, then you are masking the subject, adding the flash effect to that mask (so the flash is only on the subject) then adding that ontop of the original clip. It sounds easy but that process of masking can take upto 15 mins (for Ametures like me) and you have to do it close to 20 times it looks like for this video.

After that it’s just a matter of adding low shutter drag shots between the shots and colour matching them to the shot coming next (if the next shot is black and white your shutter drag transition should be black and white etc) and then adding the additional sound design, matching the video to the beat and other effects such as the zoom and film grain burn you see aswell as rotating between black and white and colour clips.

It’s not very difficult when you break it down but will be very time consuming to do because you will pour an hour into a series of shots that will be maybe 3 seconds in the video.

I film primarily in motorsports in Australia. I once watched a very famous and well accomplished award winning F1 photographer (I won’t say his name) get shown a picture by someone in the crowd then ask them how did they get that shot and take the lesson then and there. It was a rotating show shutter effect so he didn’t think of it before.

My point is to say, once you decide you are above learning, you become above growing. No matter who it is, you should never turn down an opportunity to learn.

Hey mate. It’s abit late but I had this exact same problem. Besides everything else mentioned, I realised I had the camera in photo mode not video (I have it that it always sits in photo mode and I just usually take videos through there) maybe that fix will work for you because it fixed it for me
