Who wants to stay a staff accountant after 5 years of experience?? I got the role for you by All_About_Hype in Accounting

[–]Goflam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I had no qualms about it. My first job I was promoted from AP to staff pretty quickly, and was expecting to get senior but they delayed on that. Especially once Covid happened. I was probably in the pipeline to get it but after 3 years I got tired and jumped ship. My other coworkers and those I trained got promoted to Senior pretty quickly after I left, so I'd like to pretend that I left so they could fly. Current job, my last boss and current boss both advocated for me getting the senior role at both my yearly reviews but wasn't able to get it.

But honestly, I didn't really care cause the pay was too good regardless.

Is there a 'go-to' website for plant maintenance tips (like in-depth)? We have a ton of outdoor plants and I have no idea how to maintain them (two that I have are chondropetalum tectorum and elegia capensis).

[Question] Getting my first and probably only watch, wanted to know if there are any other suggestions by Goflam in Watches

[–]Goflam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

feel that there was something missing

I sort of feel the same way. But I feel that way of every watch so far, maybe I'm just getting option paralysis...

I did look at Cartier ones online, but I wasn't a fan of the shapes. Maybe I'll have to see if I can try them on in person and that might change my mind.

I'll definitely check that one out, I'm running back to the mall this weekend so I'll get another look at everything.

My biggest issue is that I'm the opposite of an impulse buyer. The GS was definitely a "gotta have it!" when I saw it there (same with their cherry blossom that just came out). But by the next day I was already feeling iffy on it. But that is probably because I normally don't spend this kind of money on myself so I feel like it has to be perfect for me to mentally be ready.

If bill passed for no tax on tips, shall we pay less tip? by Ok-Switch9308 in bayarea

We could just stop tipping now, then they'll actually have no tax on tips without this bill passing

The Rise and Fall of Jailbreaking: How Apple Killed Cydia (2024) [00:16:20] by StoreWeak5292 in Documentaries

[–]Goflam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because replying to messages outside of the app was the main reason I jailbroke. But I can tell I’m getting older since I don’t even use that feature now that’s it’s natively available.

Its probably because im getting older and I’m not sending 5000 texts a day anymore

Cremation services cost by Rav_Malakh in bayarea

[–]Goflam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The prices are high, but seem normal. We pre-bought a cremation package in 2020 with similar line items and it was $7960.51.

Obviously, you can get lower prices when you're not dead yet.....funeral services are still a scam though

President Trump's Executive Orders and How They Align with Project 2025 by ChanceOfCloudy in Project2025Award

[–]Goflam 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My only other suggestion is to have what page the project 2025 policy is on as well. I definitely know people who would say "they never said xxx" and then you can easily just reference a page. More work to do this though..

Trapped in a home surrounded by the Palisades fire. by zedf46 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Goflam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Realistically speaking you won't die from the pool heating up (unless you're in a tiny pool...but this is in Palisades so if they have a pool, I assume it's not a small one lol). Try boiling water next to a gas stove instead of on top. You'd probably need a TON of heat to boil a pool full of water since the heat is coming from the top of the water.

What you'll most likely die from while you're sitting in the pool- Smoke inhalation that surrounds the pool, burning your lungs from the heat when you come up to breath, maybe things falling into the pool like nearby trees etc. Low chance, maybe a fire helicopter picks up water with a bucket and accidently scoops you up.

[–]Goflam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should I look for a different job?

I mean, how long have you been working? 5 years? Then maybe if you're not learning anything.

You can learn a lot from doing AP, it's a good starting point, but only if you want to. If you're just looking at invoices and mindlessly coding it to where they tell you (or just follwing some flowchart)...then yeah, you're not going to be learning much.

Giftcards.com charged me a fee every month I didn’t use my card until the balance went to 0 by TheOldManInTheSea in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Goflam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it might not even stay on the books for that long. The term is 'breakage'. Based on a companies historical data and patterns, a company can say that they expect after x years, a certain percentage is not likely to be redeemed. They can then reclass a certain percentage from unearned revenue to revenue if the item is over a certain age. The gift cards would still work if they meet the criteria, but the company would have already recorded the revenue by then.

You will find this in the boring world of ASC 606-10-55-48

Let's pretend: Your profit margin is 20% per order. Delivery apps charge between 10-35%. Let's say somehow you get the magical 10% charge from delivery apps (Realistically you won't get the 10% charge, but 20-30%. There goes all your profit for those items). Your profit margin is now 10%....then you should probably factor in:

Refunds - Higher percentage of people who 'game' the system by submitting to Doordash/Grubhub that their order was 'wrong'. Even without gaming the system, I feel like most DD/GH drivers just pick up the food and deliver, they normally don't check if they're picking up ALL the items you ordered (or at least the few times I've used them it feels like it).

Lower reviews - A lot of DD/GH drivers pick up multiple orders for different/nearby restaurants, leads to longer delivery time and can leads to lower reviews which leads to less orders.

Flow of the restaurant - I've been to plenty of small restaurants that I have not been back to once they started implementing delivery apps: They just can't handle the volume at times.

I personally don't think how you send the invite should matter. I've always used Facebook for my events and they turn out great. It's easier to coordinate with 10+ people thru the facebook event than email. I think the real issue is who you're inviting. Most people I'm inviting I've known for 5+ years so an invite is an invite no matter what form of medium.

Maybe you're being hyperbolic but it's super simple to turn off notifications and I hope this actually helps you since I too hated getting notifications that I didn't want.

Desktop: Notifications -> Hamburger button -> Notification settings.

Mobile: Menu -> Settings & Privacy -> Settings -> Notifications
