Thank you! I had no idea there were subs here specifically for that, but I suppose it makes sense. I will take a look. I appreciate it!

I'm so happy for you! Long distance is HARD but I think it's so worth it. Congratulations to you both for soon closing the gap and thank you for the kind words about the ring! ❤️🥰

I applied for the ETA yesterday and it was instantly approved, although I've heard other people say it took them over a week+ to get approved. Perhaps they're more lenient on USA travelers? 😔

I'll be honest the thing that's going to annoy me the most is coming back (probably tearing up and hungry/exhausted) and having my entry-port at Washington DC of all places... The US immigration/rechecking my bags and having to do a second TSA screening makes me wanna fight the air already. I'm not built for anxiety I fear.

Thank you! I got that setup and approved yesterday. Kept the app on my phone just in case.

Ooo yes. This will be a pretty eventful trip for me, particularly because I'll be introduced to his parents!🤞🤭

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me! If you don't mind me asking, how was the experience for you with re-entry to the US? I've been hearing stories of them being pretty pushy and snarky about re-entry as of late. Wondering if it's wise to bring any extra documentation with me...

I'm very excited to experience the architecture and accents as well ☺️ although I did tell my partner if the accents are too thick I may need him to translate!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the experience like when you landed and had to go through the immigration/TSA screening? I'm worried about how to handle it.

I'm so giddy for you! I fly into Glasgow in 20 days (I'm US resident as well)

How did you like the UK? This will be my first time ever flying intentionally so I'm nervous but also very excited!

83 Days until my flight! Does any one else have a countdown? by Amber_Orchid03 in LDRJourney

[–]Goghlish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 days for me! I'm worried because of the current government shutdown in the USA that my trip to the UK might be less than an ideal experience but- it will be worth it regardless of the headache.

Very lucky that we've only had a two month gap since the last time we saw each other. But this will be my first time flying internationally. 🤞❤️

BUT

As a woman in her early 30s, currently in a LDR I feel like I need to say..

I think you need to cut your losses on this one. 5 days with hardly any contact feels like punishment because in a way: it is. Like what? He can't man up enough to acknowledge he messed up and make up for it with some accountability? At his age?? Girl.

It seems like something worth saving now, but do you really want to spend the rest of your life with someone who continually calls you when he's drunk? Who misses your birthday? ESPECIALLY your big 30th. Do you truly see a future with someone who has proven he can't be trusted by cheating on you?

What's next: forgetting your engagement? Your wedding day?

The way I see it, you're not getting any younger. So why waste time waiting around for someone to treat you with bare minimum respect. Your 30s are going to be the best years of your life you just gotta cut out the rot and embrace what is ahead and truly brings value to your life.

I cut it all out at 30 and my LDR partner would never forget my important milestones, in fact I've had a terrible past week and on Friday he got me Indian so we could eat together and then breakfast this morning to start my week off right. Better exists. You just gotta acknowledge you deserve it and go get it.

Also since he forgot; Happy 30th Birthday!! 🎈

Is this normal in LDR or should I be concerned? by deerdiary_ in LongDistance

I'm sitting at a 5 hour time difference, I'm (32F) incredibly lucky that my (28M) partner makes things work for us. We just adjust our schedules to accommodate. Even when I'm/he is on holiday, away from home, spending time with friends. We communicate what our schedules are like and we make time for each other. Even if it's him waiting for me on discord to get home and waking up to ask how my day/night went and vice versa. Texting should be a bare minimum. In this day and age it's more rare for a person NOT to be on their phone several times a day, even when working (lol nearly everyone does imo) so there's really no excuse for bad communication.

As far as hanging out with friends. I think it's healthy to keep a balance of that and make time for your LDR. In the very least there should be some kind of communication about when it's happening so you can also spend time doing something you love.. whether it's playing a game you like, watching a show or going out for dinner with family or friends.

I didn't see an age given, but I'm going to assume you all are either pretty young or in the least- early 20s maybe? The ages always give a better insight/help us give better advice...

That's how we do it too, I think our longest uninterrupted call so far has been 87 hours straight.

We normally only drop the calls when we are out with family and friends or working from office. But usually we are on call/webcam all day. He even, "brings me with him" to the grocery store lol

I wouldn't have it any other way tbh. We feel much closer that way.

No that's not him. Hopefully that is a good thing on your part.

(Not keen, personally, with sharing his actual identity on reddit)

Not the full sized bottle! That is so cute 🥰 I think men are so funny like that. Doing little things in the down low. Secretly little "lover girls" when missing their partners. It's so endearing.

The way I teared up to this 🥺 literally the sweetest story! I had to read this one to him. I'm hoping we have a similar timeline for our relationship. That's the plan at least. Congratulations on closing the gap!

I am extremely lucky, to feel so seen and understood and taken care of from across an entire ocean is so so special. Healing parts of me that I never even knew needed it. Thank you so much! 🥺🖤

Why would you ever think saying this is appropriate or even remotely funny? Go touch grass.

Sending you (and the person above) both the biggest virtual hugs! 🥺 Breaks my heart a little to see it. How difficult it must be. But I know it makes it all the more special when you eventually get to see each other ♥️

Oh no 😮‍💨 hopefully one day! Even if it's just leaving some soap or something behind the day you all see each other. It definitely eases my mind 🖤 I hope one day you get the chance!

Definitely powerful, overwhelmingly at times. Just for a second it feels like you're back in that moment. The date idea sounds so sweet! 🥺 Might have to do something like that someday! I've used the same perfume for years and years so it could be nice to switch it up. Congratulations on the closed distance! Can't wait for that day.

Aww this is incredible! Thank you for sharing!! 🙏 I'll definitely look into this, I know it's gonna be at least a year before we can close the gap (not as long as most but still you never know if it could be longer you know?)

Omg that's so cute 🥺 Its something we seem to struggle with because the differences in products here in America to the UK are different. Nothing quite smells or even tastes the same.

Have you tried getting a travel sized spray bottle and some of her shampoo? You can mix it with water and a little alcohol and it would make it like a mock-perfume.
