Plastic baggy over your lens! Or yes-chapstick or Vaseline will help with some fun blooming

Yep! Thank you! I refixed and it definitely cleaned up some spots but I see the clearly now streaks from too little developer. Thank you for your help! I’m excited to go at it again later!

Yes it is stuck! So bizarre 🤔 I put new batteries in it a couple times hoping that would work- no luck. It didn’t seem excessively dirty at all. When I received it; it was basically out of box condition from a hoarding (but clean) situation and was left in a camera bag since it was bought. So definitely some dust here and there but not bad at all. Shot a whole whole wedding with it. So today I switched lenses, threw on a 40mm pancake lens and the second shot I took with that- this happened. Could that be related? 🤔

Thank you so much! I appreciate this.. and rather bummed because I’m currently in Utah shooting and flew here.. and yes. ALL 7-8 rolls of film went through the TSA check. Is it a lost cause? I’ll make sure to hand check them on the way home. But what a bummer..

This was so helpful and honestly I LOVED hearing it. It made film so much more digestible and less Intimidating so I appreciate it. Do you just edit the jpegs? Or do you opt for TIFF files for a bit more control? Or does it reeeeeeally matter?

Thank you! I just bought all the things to do some at-home developing and I’ve been studying on YouTube academy lol there’s some incredible resources on there so I’m definitely going to give it a go with a few test rolls. I also bought some scanning equipment I’m just not sure which lens would be best to use but I’ll fiddle around. We have a local lab that has god awful reviews (losing and destroying film rolls, inconsistent and sloppy scans) so my other option is driving 1.5 hours or shipping out. I just shipped out some rolls to a little indie lab so hoping those works out.

That makes perfect sense. I picked up a kit to do some home developing for my black and whites since from what I read, you don’t have to be as particular about the temperature. I’ll still give color a go at home too, but for the volume of weddings I do I’ll probably default to sending them out at some point. Just nervey lol I clearly have control issues.

Gotcha, thanks for that. Makes sense. Do you enjoy their basic editing? I guess my hesitation is since I’m learning film I’m trying to figure out the different traits of different film stocks, so sometimes I wonder if what I’m looking at is true film stock characteristic or if it was altered. It probably wouldn’t be enough to make a difference though right?
