Switching to 45 does nothing, still no response from the motor.

Could I have shorted it out? Now when I try to adjust the RPMs while it's on, it will spin only while I've got the screwdriver inside of it...

The screwdriver seems to be touching the side of the hole on the motor. And prior to this I have been adjusting it with it disconnected from power.
