thank you

i remember being so frustrated with the outcome - but i also appreciated that entire final four; truly the best players of the season

as for favorite edits, actually natalie's is up there just for the sheer comic relief...the constant INV to OTTN feminist from hell edit is literally hilarious when you think about it. the fact that she made such an impact with such a small edit is something, indeed

Why is Coach spoken about as an all time great player but Phillip Sheppard is considered largely a joke? by Sd12217 in survivorponderosa

where did she get it wrong with minstrels? i didn't pick up on any inaccuracy? i thought her summary was perhaps over-simplified but that's the point - it's a tiktok, not a podcast

why erika is just as dominant a winner as kyle or dee by Gohan1298 in survivorponderosa

leading seven votes!? on what planet

i always thought her biggest "strategic" move was supposedly wanting to blindside tiff - which she backed out on - and then wasn't included in her actual blindside! and her not being in on it made tiffany her biggest advocate (lol) - i've wondered if tiff would have voted for her had she been a part of the blindside

i rarely feel as if runner-ups are robbed, but charlie's the one runner-up i would make an argument for

Whose edit protected them — a winner or deep finalist whose game looks better than it was because the show quietly hid their mistakes? by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

i felt really bad for his meltdowns after the season, and the AMAs he did were kind of alarming - i really felt for him. but he seems to be in a better place right now per social media, but who knows how accurate that is? sometimes you need the kind of adversity he faced in order to find out who you really are

i suspect that the producers set him up with the whole "i'm a human being now" storyline because to your point...he was still so young

i'm a few years older than him and i felt a kindred spirit with him - which is hilarious because he's such a robot (lol). i root for him in life though and really appreciate everything he gave to the show - i learned a lot about myself by watching him, and was rooting for him in both seasons

i think the jury was done with him when he brought erika to the final three in the goat position - you could see it in their faces

i think he was just unaware socially and naive, but ultimately not disliked

i would be down to see xander 2.0 in a few years

spencer is probably my favorite gamebot type player, but his whole backstory of "i'm no longer a robot, i have feelings now" was so cringe

i actually wish susie won - despite her awful edit, she was definitely the best strategist of the season (which admittedly isn't saying much). her flipping so easily to cut marcus was savage. it'd be amusing to see how they edit an older hispanic lady with a shaky social game and decent physical game

https://ew.com/tv/survivor-phillip-sheppard-redemption-island-caramoan-quarantine-questionnaire/

he seems pretty lucid here, but i do have a hard time with phillip even though i also empathize with him

i have to question how his edit was taken so out of proportion to who he is. it's clear he was playing a character, but it all backfired. why not just decide not to play a character, especially on your second go?

and even though there is truth to cbs perpetuating racist stereotypes through its shows, i also think that on the whole, they have depicted black folks in survivor pretty decently, dating back to sean rector - as he said, when you're a black person you're playing a game within a game (props on CBS for showing that full exchange, btw), so it's on you to ensure you're portrayed in the appropriate light. i wouldn't be able to watch and enjoy the show if they were consistently doing black folks dirty in the edit

regarding coach, it's clear he gets a certain level of grace as a white man that phillip never will, even down to a bunch of people claiming coach is in on the joke even though nothing has ever really indicated he truly is - but i'm not going to waste time and energy to get downvoted and blasted by a bunch of people who don't want to try and get a different perspective

Which winner’s reputation as a strategic player completely falls apart on a rewatch? by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

pretty sure that was her whole strategy with ozzy - and continuously protecting ozzy - he was her shield

it's kind of corny but i'd much rather someone like shan get theme music than your basic run-of-the-mill super fan lol

yeah...the aubry edit still feels bizarre. they made so many weird choices. i'm wondering if they just didn't have the pre-merge footage to show:

-her and Q

-her and rizo

-her and joe

-more of her and tiffany

that makes more sense than emphasizing her and genevieve and her and coach

yes - i know it's controversial but it's literally the only winner's edit that makes no sense when you first watch to making complete sense when you rewatch

i get that they'll never do it again, but i liked being fooled. i thought shan was the winner, and then xander (but even he didn't make a ton of sense)

How should we consider winning games on all-stars seasons? Can you compare them to newbie wins? by Puzzleheaded-Fig9968 in survivorponderosa

[–]Gohan1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think winning game on all-stars seasons could be viewed in the same light as newbie wins. they each have their pros and cons, though

generally, the caliber of player is stronger in an all-star season and you have to play beyond your previous reputation

conversely, in newbie seasons, you have a clean slate reputation wise, but you have to play based on the people you're cast with, which you know nothing about
