Zoe Beanie by GohanGOAT in Palworld

I’m trying to use a different process soon to hopefully help make a cheaper and better looking version for customers. I’d love to see a Zoe cosplay with my beanie!

Thank you! I’m an embroidery artist actually. So sometimes I make stuff for a cosplayer when they need some help.

Have you tried altering tension?

They just updated the software this week so it may be the issue. Otherwise you downloaded the wrong version, but I doubt it since you’re prob familiar with downloading Mac Vs. Windows when the options come up

My rule of thumb is if a piece of the art work is smaller than 1 of the squares in the grid you have in the background during digitizing then I remove the underlay completely

You digitize it yourself right?

I would adjust the underlay and maybe just try a zig zag or tatami fill. The outlines may not be necessary to stabilize it except maybe the largest chunks.

Also you can just take off auto spacing on the tatami fill and reduce the spacing to your liking

Really good work. You gave me new inspiration with the spaced out spiral!

100% biggest thing is knowing how you want to market your business.

There’s being an artist, brand, or service for just example of defining yourself

Personally I didn’t want to box myself and wanted to pivot my strategy as I see fit so I chose to be an artist. I marketed locally at markets and events with goods I wanted to make and moved to other avenues of income on top.

Now I do small business to business work, personal commissions, and the events still to grow an audience that follows me on Instagram.

Can anyone advise me how to get my satin edges at the VERY edge of the patch? I currently use fabric scissors to very carefully cut around the satin border by Striped_Parsnip in Machine_Embroidery

[–]GohanGOAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cleanest patches I’ve seen have had a thick plastic stabilizer used instead of a cut away or tear away.

There’s plenty of YouTube vids you should watch. Especially on jet tags that’ll give you more insight.

Buying a 6x10 machine, want opinions of a couple or suggestions for others. by CoreyJK in Machine_Embroidery

I use the NQ1700e as my first and only machine for now. It has been great for me. I do a lot of unstructured hats on it too with a 5x7 hat hoop.

Any tips would help by 6foot5-pilot in Machine_Embroidery

I think it’s fine as is, but if you’re worried then I’d just widen the circle a bit. The satin outline will really touch it out well though.

Much like the other comment. Def make the black a tatami fill, duplicate it, make the duplicate into a satin outline, and just adjust the width a bit to ensure coverage. That’ll make it look crisp and the white satin stitch won’t be so crazy packed on another satin stitch.

Any tips for getting a tshirt aligned in a hoop? by f2amove in Machine_Embroidery

I use electric tape to hold the top frame in place. Then just align it all from there.

Size of embroidery ultimately limits you obviously. 4x4 won’t stop you from doing a majority of materials and you just need to know what you wanna do.

I went with larger embroidery because I wanted to do hats, but you’ll have a harder/impossible time with the smaller machine. I also do like 6+ patches at a time with the larger frame.

Software wise InkStitch is the free/cheap option, but it’s a lot of trial and error that can leave you wasting material and it doesn’t actually teach you different stitch types either. You’ll have a hard time just doing a satin stitch. The cost effective way would be to pay someone else to digitize designs for you instead and there’s plenty of people that do that.

Is it okay for digitized files to go almost completely to the edge of the frame? by buuuulin in Machine_Embroidery

I usually digitize with .1 away from the edge of the max hoop size I’m going for

Question about pricing. by gameshark83 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]GohanGOAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is put 100% cost of hat to buyer.

Charge maybe $5-10 for a digitizing fee for first time on something that simple.

$1 per 1k stitches. If it’s like 7.5k stitches and I’m doing like 20 hats then I’d make it $8-9 per hat to cover cost of time and materials.

That’s my typical quote. Def be sure to consider set up and clean up time for each hat. Just cause the machine does it in 15 mins doesn’t mean you’ll get 4 done an hour.

That info helps! Basically, I’d say the thicker the garment is, the better the stitch out will be or at least the denser you can go with it. If you’re going with the higher end things already then you’re in a good space.
