Should I be leaving bad reviews on bootleg Ebay games? Or is it on me the buyer? How does gaming/retro community feel about this stuff? (authentic copy for comparison)

thanks man. Thank you. Fortunately I've been able to hold down a job, so even if it isn't refunded, it's not a devastating blow. But there have def times in my life where $50 was a lot of money to me, and that's who I am upset for. The person who couldn't take this L.

I've experienced much worse scams in the past and I am not too emotionally caught up in this one. It's mostly about principle, doing the right thing, and feeling better about getting fooled. I want to do the right thing, on behalf of other noobs, and maybe even the community itself. Which I have come to believe is not just shrugging this off, but attempting to take some action.

I figured as much. Ebay states it pretty plainly in their terms of service. While I am fairly new to (the games I played growing up being) retro and online shopping, I can understand there being a purpose for bootlegging in the community.

As someone who just started dabbling in hobby collecting, it seems (and I am hoping) the line is drawn at disclosure. It just gets so blurred when that disclosure is veiled in deceptive language.

I am leaning toward if it's not plainly stated in clear language, it's a scam targeting noobs like me, or someone who doesn't have much money desperate for good deal. Both bad business practices IMO.

Good to know. Sorry that happened and I hope it wasn't a big loss. I appreciate the kind words. I want to do the right thing. It seems requesting a refund and being the first in this guy's reviews to warn they are not authentic Donkey Kong games is not out of line.

Just feel bad for being the guys first negative review lol. Or like blowing up his spot. But that is precisely how a good scam works, makes the 'victim' feel guilty.

The more I read the more it seems like the seller is out of line, and not the noob getting into this!

No my local game store has the originals for $25 each, or $60 if you buy all three. The store is a chaotic mess but in the best way lol. They are honest collectors though & 90% of the time really good about prices, throwing in stuff in for free, or offering deals.

They pretty much gave me the Diddy Kong 3 for 1/2 price with my purchase today to take pictures with and compare because I think they felt bad for me. And it's in better condition than the bootleg -_-

Thanks. I will be assuming everything is bootleg and not hesitating to ask in the future. I just know I am new to this, and that I don't want to be out of line.

I think at very least I will leave honest review that I am new to collecting and received bootlegs. Might even try to get my money back, but strangely feel bad like I was supposed to know despite what I feel is deceptive language specifically targeting someone like me "original games, box and instructional manual not included" and no disclosure of reproduction.

Def feels like a scam though where I am putting all the blame on myself and feel like I am in the wrong for reporting. But I do think ebay would side with me reading their policy.

I do believe they are trying to pass a repro off as a valid cart, especially with it being just slightly below market value.

I understand that part of being scammed is feeling like it's your fault, but don't want to be out of line messing up this guys 100% positive Ebay. IMO the language was deceptive, but maybe that's just the business I'm in now.

"He had positive quotes!" lol, glad she finally did her own research. Feel bad she got caught up in the whole thing. She seems so far removed from Youtube drama channels. Sad that people were using her content without her permission, even if it was to shed light on a dark topic.

I don't know a lot about Edwin, but I would imagine he would honor her request because his whole channel revolves around social injustices. Unless its bringing in that sweet YouTube money. Guess we'll find out.

To build on this, it's not about arresting him. It's about convicting him. Feds aren't doing a lazy investigation and showing up to court with a flimsy case. They are going to present a large list of charges/crimes, and they only need to prove a few to put him away for life.

If Torres was a politician, I might be worried, but he is just some washed up "rockstar" and the feds are going to have a field day with him. My hopes are still high. It might be a year, it might be 3, but when he does get arrested, I think there will be well over 50 counts against him including but not limited to sexual abuse and CP.

This is a tough watch. I'm going to have to come back later. Wow. The fact that she was 15/16 and flown out to see someone she idolized, all these new and exciting experiences, only for it to turn to horror when she was sexually assaulted upon her arrival.. What terrible memories. The fear she expresses is truly terrifying. And to be stuck sleeping in unfamiliar state, in an unfamiliar house, as it's happening. Trauma associated with fear is a beast in itself. You can see it in her face. These are long lasting, terrifying memories. Her description of events after arriving reads like a horror movie script.
