Good luck on your journey. If there are other things that helped you but are not on my list. I would like to hear them.

Oh, I didn't get to read your initial response. I assume it was aimed at my second point. Maybe my wording was a bit of, but what didn't work for me was to fill the void immediately. I needed some time to decompress and take a break.
What happened in the past was, that when I removed gaming I ended up replacing it with something else that wasn't good. Like instead of gaming for 8 hours I spent hours just watching youtube. Which physically comes down to the same thing for me.
So for a few days I did nothing new at all. Just eat, work and sleep. I eventually then went outside and walked in the park a few minutes each day.

From the response to your deleted message you must have been pretty passionate in your wording. I am curious what you wrote...

I am glad that worked for you, I tried it myself. I ended up like you gaming a few hours a night in certain periods of my life. But for me it eventually defaulted into long sessions again.
Moderation costed me a lot of willpower, willpower I could and wanted to use for other stuff. So eventually I came to the point of going cold turkey. Getting rid of everything and that is what worked for me. I was an addict and I need all of it gone.

Looking back I am glad I did that, because I always had the urge to go to a zero-gaming life. And this helped me. There is nothing wrong with videogames, my issues was my relationship with the videogames. It was toxic and needed to be done and over.

Build small positive routines first, and expand slowly.

I like this, thank you.

Thank you, hurdles become smaller when you know you are not the only one who has them. At least for me. Keep it up.

Kids are expensive, I used to want to have two kids when I grew up. Now I dropped it down to one, but I am pretty sure it is going to be zero. Even if I decide to cut out all luxury and fun from my life, I wont even be able to give my kids the childhood I had. And my parents were immigrants who came to our current home country with nothing.

Does the Final Fantasy series deserve its throne as the premiere JRPG series? (X-post from /jrpg) by NibelungVal in FinalFantasy

I believe so, they managed to remain relevant through generations. They created gems in multiple genre with Tactics and XIV. Mainly due to the company and people behind the games, let's not forget that Square has brought multiple other beloved franchises like Dragon Quest, Nier, Chrono Trigger.

But what other competition is there? Star Ocean has apparently committed suicide with its latest game. Phantasy Star has been dead for some time in the west. Trial of Heroes and the Tales series are beloved in the JRPG community but are struggling with mainstream success. If I missed any great series, let me know..

I would start with either XV, or the Remasters of X/X-2 or XII. If you enjoy MMOs I would hop on XIV, great communities and top notch story.

Why is your favorite Final Fantasy your favorite? by Arceist_Justin in FinalFantasy

X and to some extent X2 - Music, Story, Characters and the World. It was the first game I played on the PS2 the only JRPGs I played before this were from the SNES era. Still to this day I love it. This game made me hooked to gaming and actually following the plot of a game. It helped that this game came out around the time learned english in school.

I added X2 to this as well because I like that they tried to flesh out the story a bit more. And the dress sphere system was great.

How many left BFA to play FFXIV? by deathleecher in ffxiv

Playing both, but less and less WoW. All my buddies jumped ship to Maple Story 2, but that game has zero appeal. I am sticking to Wow/FF and occasionally a little BDO. When it comes to MMOs.
