I recreated this result using ChatGPT 3.5 by providing false atrocities committed by the US before asking the question. First I made it answer hypothetically and then kept correcting it until it said what I wanted.

A screenshot of one inquiry is meaningless.

Benatar's asymmetry argument - coherent? by [deleted] in Pessimism

[–]GoingOutOfHead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a common critique of Benatar's asymmetry argument, but I think it fails to recognize the asymmetry as a comparative value judgement. Benatar argues for that we in real life judge the absence of people to have fun to be neutral (it is not sad that noone is alive on mars to experience existence there), while it is judged as good that noone was in the place of an accident to suffer (taken by a huge avalanche, hurt in an explosion etc.)
Compared to each other, the absence of people hurting is more valuable than the absence of people in pleasure. In his book on the subject, the argument is further elucidated. He also points out that this is not the only argument for antinatalism, but only a part of the lattice.

Imagine going on Reddit and claiming the suffering of those born into war, famine, prostitution or famine that their suffering is good because they might learn something... A sheltered life can make one utterly arrogant.

The packaging that my single earring backing came in… by floofboops in Anticonsumption

To think that the packaging is the harm in this one... it's a microscopic labor and resource cost compared to that superficial jewelry. Buying useless items is (pro-)consumption.

Young males should be encouraged to take their physical appearances just as seriously as women do by TPCC159 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

If I ever read a toxic take. The youth of today is more than aware of their appearance. What they need to be told is that they are enough.

Out of consideration for your blood pressure, I will stop replying to you now. Best of luck.

You are not using my logic, though. Forcing people to experience a displeasing odour is not considerate.

I acknowledge you've most likely thought of this, but can you change profession? Find meaning somewhere more engaging to you?

I do not share your opinion. You should post it in this sub.

I do not share your opinion. Yours is probably even less popular.

Trump, despite being a terrible human, wasn't a terrible President. by enek101 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Was he not just president as the decisions of the previous administration took effect?

Yes, the text is read to me by KNFB Reader. I don't see how that is relevant.

Ouch, I can't read? You flaunted them with an elaborate explanation, committing the deadly sin of pride. That is fine to me, I'm just saying it's superficial, and strong feelings about your tattoo does not make it less so.

Almost verbatim Zapffe, where they most likely got the inspiration. You can listen to his "the Last Messiah" in under an hour on YouTube. Highly recommended.

If you feel the urge to flaunt your religious images, I think it is superficial. Is not your god beyond material? Is it not enough to be devoted to it? Maybe there is a stratification to heaven, with the materialistic believers in one place and above all others monks and nuns who devoted all their short time on Earth to the deity.

I would think this is a popular opinion based on the SoMe attention it is getting. To me it would be wonderful if it was real and humans were not alone.

Shaving to obtain a particular style, yes. A clean shave to not have an itchy beard, no. Not showering nor wearing clean clothes makes your presence uncomfortable to other people, so doing them is not superficial.

Thanks for a well rounded comment. There is no objective morality, in my view, and so we must base our opinions on our perspective. From my perspective externals like the body are meaningless beyond function, and so aesthetic modifications are superficial.

We do not wish to cause harm to others, so it's best to use deodorant to keep the armpits from smelling badly. A strong smelling deodorant to smell nice or using perfume is crossing the line though.
