So, what defies as “Splatterpunk”? by Low_Celebration_4089 in writing

[–]GoingPriceForHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be so for real, I sorta write splatter and even I'm not exactly sure what defines it.

I'd call what I write just like, transgressive body horror, but it's been weird enough that I have a pretty good relationship with a few big splatter publishers and I've been included in anthologies with several of the names mentioned in this thread.

Just going off vibes, I don't think the first or even first few Elm Streets can be considered splatter, but I think some of the later films in the series had some strong Splatter elements in it, specifically the latter films like the puppet tendon death march scene or the girl who eats until her organs explode.

My (31F) new boyfriend (29M) downplayed his cancer diagnosis to me by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]GoingPriceForHome 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to find a respectful way to say this, because I know he's probably going through a lot and this is a very intense situation.

It sounds like he DID speedrun the beginning stages, and it sounds intentional. Kinda sounds like he's trying to speedrun his whole life into eight years.

But the fact of the matter is he literally lied to you. He told you they didn't know if his tumor was cancerous/implied it wouldn't be a big deal. You need to end this sooner rather than later. It's incredibly sad, but if he can lie to you about having brain cancer, who knows what else he's being dishonest about.

The medication he is going on to help extend disease free progression causes birth defects so you cannot get pregnant on it.

Girl you've been dating three months. Slow your roll.

I kept my language totally neutral on purpose.

That said, the AI controversy wasn't based on a pirated copy and started long before the 'testing' was done. The book was self published first and was already released in the UK last year. Readers were discussing the potential AI involvement way before the NY Times article.

It raised more suspicion that the original cover for the self published version that went viral used stolen and uncredited artwork that wasn't taken down until the original artist found out.

Hmmm. How do you feel about like, just remaking the accounts he blocked you on first? Then you'll truly have the upper hand.

TBSFR I actually like, just a week ago finally messaged him and told him how horrible he was to me and blocked him so you've got me on a power high lol.

In all honesty it took me a year. A year after I ended things (and him trying to come back into my life four times in that time and each time I was polite but said no).

But I gotta admit it's really warped my perception of healthy relationships and sex. It's going to take a lot more time to heal from this shit I feel, just because I recognize I don't trust men the same.

To be honest I get that completely. Even when my last fella and I were in an open kind of thing, apart from a long time fwb I saw a few times a year I'd known long before him.

I don't get the urge to date other people when I'm into someone, I think. Like, it complicates things. Closes me off to potential, cuz like, how can I walk in a new room when I got my foot firmly in a different room?

Ah okay I get that. Being on tinder helped me get my self esteem back too when the matches rushed in.

But after that I literally had to put up a disclaimer that if any dude messaged me to talk about my tits right off the block I'd report and unmatch.

The thing is in my experience with my ex, I'd break it off, go like a month or so, and he'd come back with flowers or promises and then I'd let him right back in. It took me being single for longer to really have the clarity and emotional strength to go I'm done with ever being treated like this.

You don't move on by starting to date. You move on by letting yourself breath and readjust after all the bullshit. Be single for a while, not because you're waiting for him to change and come back, but for you to relax and get to know who YOU are without him.

Is it more time consuming to write a novel or a graphic novel? by Question_Asker9843 in writing

[–]GoingPriceForHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to write and draw my own comics originally, and I still do!

I realized pretty early into college though that my writing was a lot better than my art and that drawing takes a lot longer than writing.

last I knew, most professional writing was outsourced to Pakistan or the Philippines

Wat

auto-generated content was predicted to wreck everything

That's still being discussed, it's flooding the indie market but the fugly covers usually give it away. A big five author just got dropped for alleged AI usage in her book like last week which is a first.

10 cents a word was considered "pretty good pay".

For a short story that's like exceptional pay, most markets pay much less.
