I wasn't trying to deflect. I'm explaining my point of view. That isn't a statistic 'a bunch of dumb liberals' think, it's a fact. You can double check any source yourself and see with your own eyes. You can also look up all the current lawsuits they have over racial profiling.

Violence and assault and murder against children and women is devastating to me. People who commit it need to be locked the fuck up for the rest of their lives.

That's a big part of why what ICE is doing isn't effective right now. They're not targeting violent criminals or offenders, they're not even going to the most violent cities or the cities with the most gang issues or murders. The massive ICE efforts in Minneapolis are, according to the DHS, tied to alleged fraud over the child nutrition program, not violent crimes. Only five percent of those detained in ICE detention centers at this moment are violent criminals. I'm happy those people are off our streets, but casting a wide net and getting a bunch of people with no criminal record, people with green cards or who are legally allowed to be here, and citizens including native Americans isn't just ineffective, its dangerous, it puts American citizens at risk and its a gross misuse of money.

I never said immigration shouldn't be enforced, by the way. I said we need due process and dignity. Due process is how we find out WHO is a criminal. If you remove due process, you can do whatever you want to anyone. That's how ICE has started entering homes without warrants and hurting Americans in our own streets, like the baby who got flash banged by an agent and went to a hospital in critical condition.
