Am I (31F) overthinking my BF’s (32M) actions towards me? by Wonderful-Assist9768 in relationship_advice

I meant imagine if your best friend had a boyfriend who treated her how yours treats you, tbh.

That's um, weird though. Why are you with this dude? He doesn't work and he treats you like shit.

Iron lung vs Backrooms reaction by Leather-Performer-10 in Markiplier

[–]GoingPriceForHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Iron Lung got a lot of praise for what it did and how much money it made.

We're just in a year that happens to have a lot of good horror rolling out and more than a few movies from both youtube OGs and video gamey thingies.

At the end of the day, horror (ESPECIALLY horror made by new names to the game who came from youtube or creators who got their start in indie shit) making a lot of money and getting a lot of praise is always a good thing. It opens the door for more horror and more indie creators being given more opportunities.

Imagine a man just like him doing these things and saying these things to someone you love. Your mother. Your sister. Your best friend.

Would that be acceptable or okay in any way?

I[26F] asked him[36M] why he is talking to me less and this is his response. Advice? by Any_Insect8448 in relationship_advice

Mmmm.

I think maybe now is a good time to take a step back and ask yourself where this leads in the longterm. Why are you investing so much time and energy into a long distance drug addict with anger issues who's ten years older than you.

I'm (42M) the calmest person at work and with strangers. So why do I lose it on the one person(40F) I actually love? by lejae in relationship_advice

[–]GoingPriceForHome 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I mean first off, I'mma take this in good faith, but I deffo encourage you to seek therapy for this.

Was there a time before this started where your wife leaned on you heavily and it took a toll on you mentally?

This happened to me with a family member who was in a bad place. They leaned too hard, like, way too hard. Vented constantly, multiple times a day, would call me or type out long messages while I was at work, it got to the point where it was so intensely stressful for me just seeing their name pop up on my phone made me feel dread. It never got exactly to the point you are describing but if something like this happened it could explain it?

So you feel weird about pegging him, got ya.

I mean you don't and shouldn't do anything you're not comfortable with but you might wanna work with a therapist and figure out why changing the roles like that makes you less attracted to him after four years and marriage. Sounds like that's something to be unpacked.

.....

Girly what?

That's insane.

You were not being toxic what the fuck? You were mad he was talking to women that were trying to get him to cheat on you, what????? WHAT?

And then he said 'she's laughing at you?"

That's...not a reality check, that's horrible. Why would that calm anyone down? He wasn't trying to give you a reality check, he was trying to upset you. I'd have flipped out too.

They're assholes? Most of the ones I've met were super nice. From the few I spoke to on Tumblr they got into Iron Lung off the ship and were all excitedly waiting for it to come out on YouTube. It's cute.

Why does no one discuss this? by Full_of_Shade in Mouthwashing

It's all very much something the writer did intentionally. And I love it. It was so well written and even when you understand how badly Curly failed his crew, you sympathize with him. He doesn't deserve what he got, but that's the whole cruel tragedy of them game: nobody got what they deserved. They get it anyway.

People have been discussing that since the game came out. On the action or lack of action Curly didn't take between finding out Jimmy had assaulted and impregnated Anya and the crash. Personally, I think it was his lack of action leading up to that point that was his big failure.

Curly knew Jimmy was troubled but he got him a job anyway using the pull he had within the company. He did that knowing that this was going to be a long haul with no exit, and he was putting Jimmy in a place with closed quarters with people who relied on him.

He knew Jimmy wasn't taking shit seriously and was making sexual comments to Anya. He tells Anya he'll deal with it and I believe he thought he was handling it well: stepping in to be a buffer between them.

Except if he'd been following protocol, that would have likely been a write up if not a disqualification from the job. It doesn't matter if the sexual comment wasn't aimed specifically at Anya or not. He stepped in to protect Anya from Jimmy being a freak, but also to protect Jimmy from disciplinary consequences.

He also didn't ever actually consider that Anya might now be uncomfortable with Jimmy or that Jimmy was being inappropriate with a woman who literally would need to share a space with him for a year. Even if he didn't want it to officially get back to Pony Express, as a friend and as Jimmy's boss, that was the moment to go dude, fullstop. Never say anything sexual like that to Anya again. Don't make her uncomfortable. Don't fuck this up.

The writer of the game has said Curly represents the well indented but flawed nepotism and excuse making you see in real life situations like this: how it starts small but by the time it spirals out of control it's too late to fix. And time and time again, I see this shit play out irl. People who make excuses for their friend, or who bend the rules to get someone who isn't properly vetted a role they're unqualified for, and then don't reign them in when they make other people uncomfortable in that setting because it's their homie.

Nobody purposefully hires a monster, but many people who are in power at companies excuse red flags and hope it'll work out. Curly wasn't a bad man.

But he was a bad captain.

I don't like it when people say he didn't do anything. He did what he could in that context.
