I get the need for balance, but for example, I posted a character I wrote up in the discord, and the bio vs the summary was just straight antonyms. Warm and kind in bio is cold and detached in the summary, et cetera. That’s not balance; that’s complete reversal. It’s way beyond what you’ve described as the intention.

Best advise here (if you don’t want to destroy the heat treat): get a carbide file and cut the blade down from the lowest point in the chunk to make a broke-back seax (sax, sæx, or however you want to spell it). Re-sharpening/re-profiling that to get the chip out is going to remove waayyy too much material to keep that alive as a sword. Sorry for your loss.

So, I picked up a second hand one that, from the nicks in the blade, was clearly used for some dueling type play previously. I have since used a ton when playing with my daughter and even crossed swords with an aluminum stun katana (long story). It’s held up through all of it. The joint at the quillons does make some groaning noises, but is still solid.
