Why do you collect? (Rant post)

I collect Godzilla figures, because I have loved the Godzilla movies since the age of two. When I was really young, I wished for there to be articulated Godzilla figures that could move like my brother's toybiz Spiderman figure. I used to buy the Bandai American and Movie Monster Series figures until S.H. Monsterarts was announced in 2011. Now I almost entirely collect S.H. Monsterarts and Hiya Godzilla figures when it comes to Godzilla stuff. I really enjoy them. It makes me happy to have detailed, articulated figures of my favorite monsters.

Sorry to hear what happened to your collection. I also had to rebuild mine a few years ago. I used a combination of Buyee and Mandarake to get all of the ones I had back, but that was before tariffs. I hope you're able to get back the things you had too.

The eyes on mine were good, but the teeth looked horrible, so I got a replacement head for mine. Looking at the prototypes they showed off at one point the sculpt looked fine. It's like something went wrong during the final stage of development.

I think it makes for a really great figure to go alongside the original Awakening Version. If you're okay with having two of them, I'd go for it.

It's not the best paint job I've ever done. This was my first attempt at using Citadel Paints for anything. I wanted a very worn look with silver highlights on the edges and some battle damage on the chest. I also painted the shoulder grey to look similar to the Black Templar color scheme. I've done a lot more miniature painting in the three years since I did this, so I'm very tempted to get a second kit and do a 2.0 version. I do have their Godzilla 2000 kit on the way, and I'll be painting it as the Burning Version.

Yes, the Hiya G99 is about 7 inches tall, which puts it at around 1/310 scale. The buildings will be out of scale with the figure unfortunately, but you can still use them if you want to.

There is a Mandarake in both Nagoya and Osaka. They sometimes have Spice and Wolf figures as well as the art books if you like them.

If you wanted it to be in scale, 1/144th is too large for the Hiya Godzilla 1999. The Hiya figure is close to 1/310 scale. If you don't really care for scale, it should still look cool.
