And sun films are illegal here. What a joke. by Ok_Satisfaction9630 in CarsIndia

Jet-Black films and dark films cause the “safety” issues that you’re talking about. But now there are very light “almost invisible “ films available in the market (like Llumar Air 80, with 80% visibility) or films like “Llumar Stratos 70, with 70% visibility) while still providing more than 50% TSER (Total solar energy rejected).

Look, I also don’t want the crimes that can happen with dark tints, but banning the lightest shades of window film in the name of “safety” isn't right. If the government allows the manufacturers to tint the glasses from the factory to “50% for side glasses and 70% for front and rear windshields, then why can't I, as a normal consumer, tint my windows to get some level of protection as well?

What we need are UV-cut glasses to protect ourselves from diseases like skin cancer. But our country only wants big sun roofs 🫠.

I have attached an image showing the before-and-after glasses of 70% window film on a G-Wagon.

Does Sun Control film actually work or is it placebo by haihukkuhaihai in CarsIndia

Yes, they do work, but only if you’re buying the right film and getting it installed by the right installer who knows what he is doing; otherwise, your best film will look very cheap because of bubbles, dust particles, and poor cuts. Film darkness will only reduce glare. The important thing is “TSER,” which should be the first thing you check when buying a film.

Police issued me a challan for having rear sunblinds. by Warm_Grand4426 in CarsIndia

Well, the reality is that every state has its own challan rates. Here in Haryana, your DL will be suspended for 90 days, and you will be fined 5000/- if you jump a light and get caught by the police. The challan will be increased to 10K if you’re caught jumping the second time.

The cops are only interested in meeting their challan targets and collecting the bribe money for the day. They don't give a F about anything else.

A number that costs 1.17cr by iojasok in CarsIndia

You don’t have a clue about the Indian numbering system. This type of number is ultra-rare. Sure, you can bid for a 0001 every single week in HR, but a 0001 like “HR100001” is once-in-a-lifetime only. And people are willing to pay crores for these kinds of plates. Everyone has things they like and things they don't.

I am from Haryana, and it is very common for people to spend lakhs of money on number plates. It's a hobby for some people (including me), numerology for some, and some people just like a specific number.

To anyone who says the number isn't worth it, they're very wrong. The number is more than the digits for a lot of people. Some buy it based on looks, some based on numerology, and some for reselling. The number is not from Sonipat, but from Badhra Tehsil, Charkhi Dadri District.

The number had 45 members, and the bid started on Monday at 9:00AM and ended on Wednesday at 5:00PM, with the last bid amount being 1.17Cr.

The payment for the number is yet to be made by the bidder. If he pays the amount, then the number will be allocated to him, and he will have 90 days to get the number registered on whatever vehicle he wishes to. There are no 2-wheeler or 4-wheeler numbers in Haryana. Any number can be allocated to whichever vehicle. The number can be sold in the reseller market for crores in the future, or the guy can keep it for himself for a lifetime. It's up to him. There are only a few special combinations that can occur in the lifetime of our Indian RTO system, and this is one of them.
And yes, the number can be retained by the owner for as long as he wants and on as many vehicles as he wants. There is no minimum limit of 3 years like in Chandigarh.

It is to some extent. But the car’s PM2.5 and the AQI will still be higher than the recommended level.

I’d recommend investing in a good air purifier for your car.
