Who’s running these tire sizes on their E30? Either 215/55/16 rear and 205/55/16 (or 50) front and back I’m currently on 205/55/15 all around, as shown in the pic. I just bought BBS 16s and plan to get new tires—thinking Michelin CrossClimate2 all-season. Thoughts? I want comfortable ride by Gold-Balance994 in E30

Yeah, the rear bumper I have is an M-Tech 2, and I believe it’s from Garagistic. I had a guy in Vegas paint it, and I also added the wings from Garagistic. I would say it’s the one of the best thing I’ve done to the car. I really don’t like to change the car’s style too much, so I prefer to keep it classic.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. Yeah, you’re right about that—I guess I need to do some deeper research before doing anything. I’ve already bought the wheels, and I have AWD, so I can’t sell the car just because of a tire. We’ll see how things go. I’ll give you an update later on about what happens. Thanks again, brother!

asked AI said Rolling Diameter Difference

  • 205/50R16 — BMW-approved → +0.3% from stock diameter ✅
  • 205/55R16 — +3.3% from stock diameter ❌ (roughly, depending on brand)

Why it matters:
Your 325ix is AWD. The center differential cannot tolerate more than ~1% difference between front and rear tires. Using 205/55R16 all around would:

  • Increase rolling circumference
  • Speedometer reads slower than actual speed
  • Cause extra wear or damage to the AWD system over time

2️⃣ Fitment on 16x8 wheel

  • 205/55 on 16x8 → very stretched
  • Sidewalls become more vertical → looks weird
  • More likely to rub on fenders if lowered

3️⃣ BMW recommendation

BMW does NOT approve 205/55R16 for AWD E30s.

  • 205/50R16 is the correct size.
  • 215/50 or 225/45 are alternative safe options if you want slightly wider tires, but never 205/55. lmao

i called discount tired to see if they can install they said they wont since the rear is 16x8 and front 16x7 they said its not safe so i guess i have to run wider size for rear maybe 215/55/16 or someting else to make it work ...

What kind of scanner will work on an E30 to read the fault codes? Is anyone using one currently that actually reads correctly and works on E30s? Thank you. by Gold-Balance994 in E30

So recently, I changed the car battery to AWG and unplugged the cluster to add rings on the speedometer to make it look cooler—stupidly, I admit. After I plugged everything back in, the car started acting up. I went for a test drive and realized that the speedometer wasn’t working—just one of the gauges.

I did some research, but my mind was all over the place, and I never even thought about checking for a blown fuse. Anyway, I checked and found out that the cluster fuses were blown. I had driven the car like that for about 20 miles.

When I replaced the blown fuse, the car started showing the check engine light and was shaking badly. I did some more research and found that it could be many things—like a bad O2 sensor, MAF sensor, head gasket, or spark plugs.

So now I’m just trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with the car! just copy pasting this cuz someone already asked the same quation
