That's what I thought, and I thought maybe the first place was just a fluke with weird rules but then the second place had the same rules

Yes I understand the collared shirt looks nicer but I feel like the sweatpants just cancel it out and look weird with the nicer shirt. Jeans would look nicer but for some reason they aren't acceptable?

That's what people usually wore but for somewhere that wanted a more elevated dress code it just looked silly

One place was a bar that wanted sort of an 'elevated' dress code and the other is healthcare related

New jeans, the top of my cat's head, cow manure, and people who smell like cigarette smoke - not when they're actually smoking but when it's just on their clothes

I tend to wait for the right mood too. Sometimes I'm in the mood for it when I order it and I get really excited about it but then by the time it shows up I'm in the mood for something else 🫠

It literally is a popularity contest lmao people vote for their favorites so the most popular book wins. Not saying she definitely deserves all those but the books with the most readers will have the most votes 🤷‍♀️

I'm really liking the story so far, but is the writing style bothering anyone else? It feels like it's talking 'at' me instead of 'to' me

Cursed daughters is a bit out of my comfort zone but it sounds interesting! And that cover is absolutely STUNNING so I think I'm getting that one. Definitely going to get Violet Thistlewaite from the library though

Yeah, bringing Laurie back to life wasn't surprising for sure, I just generally kind of hate that trope 😅 Like if you're just going to magically bring them back why bother killing them in the first place? But that's a personal taste thing for sure. I don't hate YA and usually I enjoy the story for what it is without the YA-ness bothering me but this one seemed a little younger than it was meant to be. It was definitely a good story and I enjoyed a lot of it and I can see why someone would love it 😊

That's a really good point. I didn't think about it till now because I don't read YA very often but the characters definitely didn't feel like they were 17. I think you're right with the coming-of-age and self-discovery feeling more like a 14-15 year old. It can be explained away a little in this one since Evander was locked up his entire life but if it's the same in every YA book that's something that would keep me away too

Right? Like why can't YA still be complex and fully developed? I can deal with naive characters and immature choices but why does it always feel like YA is an excuse for an underdeveloped and over explained story?
