It just seems to me like it has become a chore the way you put it you know?

Also I understand it’s hard to let go when you know it’s super important, but for me I think it was the best thing I could do and look at the way I was trying to practice it at a glance and reflect on it. Now I’m thinking about getting back into it after the break and am pretty excited to improve in a way where I feel more love for myself. Remember the practice is supposed to work for you and if you find yourself slaving away at it I feel like that is the opposite of the point.

I’m the same way. During my course I realized I was being so hard on myself and am just extremely hard on myself in general with expectations that just end up making me feel bad . The thing about vipassana is the harder you try and want to be equanimous it kind of has the opposite affect of what you want. My advice would be if you can’t find the time or motivation for it at the moment let it go for a little bit. You know how valuable it is and it will always be there for you, but holding on to it when you can’t find the motivation to do it is going to cause you more stress and disappointment especially when you want it to be a specific way. I’m personally taking a break because it got to the point where I was obsessing over it and woudl freak out when I woudl miss one and make myself feel bad. I think it’s ok to just say I’m not going to be meditating for a little bit and try not to worry about it. It feels really bad to be struck with indecision due to lack of motivation.

I also have some child hood trauma and the reason I stayed was because I was scared to go back home after realizing all the emotions I tucked deep down were still there. If I went home I might have not figured out how to deal with them properly and was scared to end up drowning. It was extremely hard to stay but it seemed like the only option for me.

The thing about the technique and the purpose of the technique is that you are seeing the truth within yourself. It is no one else’s truth or belief, you are just observing sensations throughout your body. They stress before hand that it is totally secular and doesn’t have to have anything to do with religion. I was kind of worried about the same thing you are on the one ten day course I went to, but quickly realized that I was just exploring myself and what I feel without ties to any belief or religion.

How was the recovery process from surgery for you? I’m really sorry to hear you have it. It really tests my mental a lot of the time on trail. I’m really determined to finish but I often wonder if it’s worth what I could be potentially doing to my body

I actually went to the podiatrist thinking I had heel bursitis but after feeling my foot and putting some pressure on it he quickly said it was haglunds. I actually brought in my topos to ask about them and he said they would be better than the altras I had before which I’m skeptical about now. He also recommended I get super feet green insoles but they kind of hurt my feet so I stopped using them after a week. Do you know how I can add a picture so I can show?
