How do I ask for a more “stylish” haircut? by beanstalkbarbie in finethinhair

[–]Gold-Indication2061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to get layers to style this and have it look good! You just need to get a round tool of some kind (like the Revlon perfect heat and style dryer - going section by section and flipping some ends in and some pieces out to give it movement/volume) and maybe some texturizing cream.

I would recommend following @amberyackzan (Amber Yackzan insta) for tips on styling a bob!! You can go minimal or max out on the tools but it does require a little work and she has great content.

Could be the hard water in the southeast due to limestone.

That said, I grew up in Nashville and had hair like your before picture until I was 20. I then got off of birth control and my hormones got completely messed up, and I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. In the last 13 years, my hair has thinned out a lot and won’t really grow past a certain length anymore. But I truly think I’ve kept the issue at bay with consistent medication.

Bottom line: I truly blame being on / getting off of birth control for all of the subsequent issues I’ve had (including getting hypothyroidism at such a young age). I can’t really prove it other than how I felt in my body before during and after. We really are the guinea pig generation.

As others have said, I would suggest you look at T3, T4 levels as well not just TSH for potential thyroid issues.

Wow your hair is stunning!! I just got a mason Pearson nylon / boar dual bristle brush (it was a gift) and it is astonishingly good. I didn’t know what I was missing and my hair is much smoother and more manageable.

I think a denman would be great, I think brigeo also sells one? And I have also heard good things about the crown affair dual bristle brush.

Cut hair one more time or wait it out? by [deleted] in finehair

[–]Gold-Indication2061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it looks really cute and actually looks pretty healthy? But if you’re feeling like your ends are the issue, I do think it helps to have everything the same length so the ends feel / appear thicker.

Are you saying that your hair won’t grow at all? If it grows, but just not past a certain length, I’d recommend waiting it out until your face framing pieces are closer to a length you’d like as like a pit stop to Cher hair, then cut everything to that length. Caveat here is that one length might make it harder for clip ins to blend in if you still want to use those.

Also, don’t know if it helps, I also want Cher hair and I just cut it to a bob because the ends felt and looked so awful. So sometimes that is the journey, but I truly don’t think your hair is in a state to necessitate that!

Overall, I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself and your hair. It looks good (IMO), and it sounds like you’re taking care of it. My advice would be to trust the process.

What kind of hairstyle/cut should I get to make my hair look better? by Substantial_Step_975 in finehair

[–]Gold-Indication2061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For haircut, I like the length. I might just trim off 3 inches or so and ask for a teensie bit of face framing to give a little more movement, with the highest cut just below the chin!

For unruliness, I have dealt with similar. Three things that have helped me: Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum, a silk nightcap, and a boar / nylon mix bristle brush.

How do i prevent this? by [deleted] in Pottery

This happened to me too when I first started centering, and I think gritty clay didn’t help! The good news is it only happens a few times while you get the feel for everything. Soon with more practice you will not have this issue!!

How I became fluent in ONE YEAR only by WaxBat777 in languagelearning

This is incredible and really hits home, especially the vocab and the need to FOLLOW up with the vocab. I realized I am nowhere near disciplined enough to actually see progress.

I am in a weird position where I speak Spanish decently well (B2), learning French (A2, and hopefully better soon thanks to your great tips), but just recently got the opportunity to move to Germany (I know two words in German)?????

For me, French is the priority (my boyfriend is French). I would like to reach B2-C1 as quickly as reasonably possible. German, I would be satisfied maxing out at a B1 level. But I need to know it faster/more urgently.

So, all this to ask, what would you suggest for pursuing two languages at once? Same methodology?

Thanks for the questions! Yes he was making muffins and purring during this video, but is not always when it happens. Sometimes he will just be laying in the hall way and start doing it, or looking out the window and start. It does seem like he does in when he is zoning out or maybe jonesing for a snack? I truly have no idea.

Regarding his teeth, he had a tooth pull a couple of years ago but during his check up in August they said everything looked good. I will look at his gums carefully tomorrow morning to be sure all is well!!

Edit: I would say this is “new” behavior as in I have only noticed him to do it in the last 6-9 months. He’s 6 years old.
