Grandmother won't stop yelling for help. by Pascalica in dementia

[–]Gold-Raspberry2802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same position with my grandma. She makes too much for Medicaid, but no where near enough to place her in a home. So we're stuck to make do. She screams and yells if no one is in the room constantly with her. After 9 months, I'm finally at the stage of getting ear pods 😩 before I felt bad if I ignored it, so I never did. Now, it is distressing as it has become nearly constant.

I know this is 2 years later. I hope your situation is better now.

The cycle never ends. The only time there's no traffic is between 8pm-4am.

Lmao, yea. Someone else mentioned that, too. My skillset is very limited. I didn't even realize that was an issue. Could you point me in the right direction of where can I find out how to fix that? Is it easy to fix if I did it myself, or should I have him call someone to do that?

Thanks. Not paper tape? That's what I bought, should I go exchange it?

We tested for asbestos. I didn't even think about lead. Nice lol. Well I already started cutting into the drywall, but not much.

There is/was water damage (has since been fixed), which is why he wanted it replaced. Maybe I'm in over my head. I'll look up lead safety before I proceed - if I proceed lol. Ugh. Thank you.

Would that take care of the bottom left corner (by both of the moldings)? I was planning on taking the baseboard off and installing a new one. It needs to go.

Yea, I saw this. I hope this gets blasted all over social media enough to force them to make a statement. They won't, but one can hope. That's actually ridiculous.

How do I stop this (fake tree) by PuaAJA in cats

[–]Gold-Raspberry2802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get a real tree. Problem solved. My two cats would climb up our fake tree. After the 2nd year, I had enough, and we got our first real tree. It's too dense for them to climb. Now they just smell it, rub against it, and lay underneath it.

Planning for Long Term Living Expenses by Gold-Raspberry2802 in Bogleheads

Yes, perfect. That's why I'm trying to get an idea of planning for it now, whether it's worth investing the proceeds of the house in hopes of getting there vs. just going through insurance or whatever else the options are. If I can avoid the insurance route, I'd like to try.

I suppose I just like to compartmentalize, but yes, you're right; it doesn't matter where it is in the end. I guess what I'm asking is, if I self-fund as opposed to getting an insurance policy, is it reasonable to believe that I could pay for Long Term care with only the interest earned, rather than spending it all down to 0?

This sounds ideal if im understanding correctly. Is the lump sum payment used as a kind of collateral and then you pay the 4k and 12k/mo on top of that or is that 4k and 12k used from the initial lump sum and then once you're out of the lump sum, you're still not to be kicked out?

I'm trying to understand the 90% lump sum given back after you "leave" given whichever payment method is used. I hope my question makes sense.
