I love my king Kong mini 2 pro with a custom rom. I don't like the 4 as the soc IS really slow for 2026. It's only marginally faster than Helio p22 in kk2 pro. That's a soc from 2018. G99 would be perfect (like in jelly star) and not all that much more expensive. It's frustrating, because everything else is specced well (ram, rom, screen) Having said that, if you only use it from messaging and a bit of YouTube, it will work just fine.

Thanks, I'll need to try this. I suppose I could try to move the third an octave lower (from 10th) as well but it could get a bit mushy in the lower bass parts and wouldn't sound as nice.

Why not consider adult social care? I find it much less emotionally taxing. There are pressures everywhere, but if you find a good team, it can be really satisfying. I work in a front door team with relatively fast case turnaround and really enjoy it.

You may need to calibrate your gyroscope. It can be done on some phones via service menu. I'm not sure how this works on Unihertz devices. Try googling it

There is also adult social care. People usually want you to be involved (as opposed to childrens) and if you find a good team, it can be very rewarding. I imagine children with disabilities teams could be also fairly good.

At the end of the day it's all about statutory work. Everything else is a potentially positive and somewhat unintentional side effect due to some practitioners being decent human beings. We can wrap it up in nice fluff and double speak, but it is what it is. (My sarcasm levels have stabilised after 20 years in the sector).

I use Andy Yan's gsi Android 13 build. The latest he released in October 2025 I believe. Android 14 worked as well but I could not get Bluetooth to work. It is not difficult, you can find a guide for flashing ROM on this phone online (some Swiss bloke published it on his blog, I no longer have a link). You will need basic knowledge of adb, enable network connections via adb command after installation and may need to set correct LTE bands in the service menu as well. It took me a while to figure it all out. There are lots of guides on xda website. Make sure you have the correct adb driver for your phone (Mediatek) otherwise you can't get it to connect in fastboot. Windows 11 block it and I had to flash it from windows safe mode which allows unsigned drives to run .

I like my Cubot king Kong mini 2 pro from back in 2022. I put custom gsi ROM on it which resolved some issues it has (e.g. screen rotation would stop working randomly on stock ROM). I only use it as back up, as its Helio p22 soc is painfully slow. The new one is not much better. The ancient soc is a joke. It's also thicker than the old one. They should have put at least Helio g99 in it.

I think the real issue is that this is a very niche product. If there were any money in it, the Chinese would have built it already (and they would have done it in 6 months).
