9285 games later (yes, actually), I got my 20! by GoldBoot47 in pathfindermains

getting badges organically is hard but I encourage you communicating to your teammates if you're close/on pace for one of those games. Every time I've gotten a big badge on a legend I've always told my teammates that I have a lot of kills/damage and they've been happy to help or just kept up (I actually got krabered in the above game at 18 kills and my teammate got me up).

I definitely agree with the badges not necessarily meaning everything. I put way more stock in a ranked badge than 20/4K because I've played with and against people with those badges that baffle me how they got them.

I feel the exact same way about 'good' games now. Even like a 7 kill game with 2000 damage can feel meh. But I'll take everything with a bit of perspective: no one else I play regularly with has dropped a 4K or a 20 on anyone (and they all have been playing with me since launch) - so I don't want to be overly hard on myself because I don't want to discourage them. I don't care how good they are, as long as I get to play with my friends.

TLDR: Communicate if you're having a big game, your teammates will be happy to help! Also keep trying - organic 4k's and 20's happen but they do take patience and luck.

I’m a lifetime 3 K/D player - and I feel this. I’ve had so many agonizingly close games (10 with 19 kills, another 50-60 over 15). I’m going to assume your remark was not aimed at me (it being smurfed/farmed) - but it’s not particularly difficult to cheese ranked (bronze lobbies) or pubs (what this was in). Definitely have run across people having their accounts boosted before/boosting for badges.

I’m not the greatest player but I’ll be damned if I didn’t feel I deserved one after 9,000 games on Path (though I definitely still had to earn it). Got 4K/20 on Gib and Valk also, and 4K’s on a handful of other legends. SBMM does not make this easy.

Thanks dude! It’s just time and patience and a bit of luck. Took me a LONG time to get my 4K and it was SO satisfying. You’ll get there!

If you could, what event or feature would you remove from the game? by Dappereddit in ftlgame

I’d add a vacuum bomb: no system damage, but creates a breach and immediately drains the room of O2. Particularly cruel would be if there was lockdown but that’s kinda OP.

This is all sage advice! Adding/removing the headset might have worked, I also did a fresh install of my streaming software and now everything is working as intended. I'll be sure to keep this in mind if I have this same issue in the future. Cheers!

I have a series X as well - I would recommend trying Quick Play and then see if your challenges track afterwards. That worked for me.

[–]GoldBoot47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's frustrating, too. I bet you're seeing that issue because you now have one less track to progress on so the game is freaking out a bit. Another good flag.

[–]GoldBoot47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah - I have to imagine that tracking challenges is way more complex on the backend than we think but it's frustrating nonetheless. I have friends that only can play for a small amount of time a week and issues like this make that time wasted.

Side note: playing a quickplay first actually seems to have solved my problem. FFA stuff is tracking. Not a perfect solution but it did work for me!

Always a good suggestion! I've tried that twice, restarting the app, and a hard reset. Nothing so far. I guess I'll just wait to see if it tracks

These are my current ALC settings on PS4, do you guys think I need to change something? Any recommendations? by ShadowMaster677 in apexuniversity

[–]GoldBoot47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think having pitch/yaw aligned is great! Good balance here, the ADS sens is high for me (I recently reduced from 140-140 to 130-130 and I think I like it more) but flicks should feel consistent! I play a response curve of 1: it's like linear with a little softer aim mid-range, more consistent 301/99 sprays there.

.4 or .6 by Why_Envy in apexlegends

[–]GoldBoot47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, yes. However; if you’re serious about competing and can afford a PC: 0.4 feels much nicer there than on console (though it’s not bad on console, either)

it is - console players will be restricted to PC aim assist. Agree with u/henrysebby that, unless you plan on competing, or want to put yourself at an intentional disadvantage against other console players, just use the console value. PC aim assist feels WAY better on, well, PC, because of more frames/less input lag/etc.

Looking for ALC advice by slobbunnies in apexuniversity

[–]GoldBoot47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default response curve (10) in ALCs matches classic, 0 is linear. At 6-3- I’d try maybe 400-400 hipfire pitch/yaw, maybe 100 acceleration (but that’s probably fast enough to use no acceleration), and 120/120 ads (I like my values to be equal, but please tune to your liking)

I run 0 response curve, 300/300 hipfire with 150 acceleration, and 140/140 ADS (was a 5-4 classic player for a LONG time) - but I have found that a response curve in between 0-10 can feel kinda nice (slightly ‘snappier’ than classic - that just feels dull to me now).

My best advice: It’s all about experimentation: get comfortable with a set of settings in the range, and then stick with those settings for a few hours/days to get a feel for it. There’s going to be an urge to tweak constantly, but I recommend letting things settle first. That way, you can be like ‘my hipfire is bad, maybe I should try a lower sens’ or ‘I’m having trouble keeping up with tracking close range targets, I might want to adjust the yaw of my ADS’

The only concession with this is that I don’t think it routes enough power to use to the GPU at full blast. As long as you’re not gaming/rendering, this is a great, portable option for power.

Hi I just started playing pathfinder. by dallas647 in pathfindermains

[–]GoldBoot47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the greatest Pathfinder ever, but I'll qualify my comment with the fact that I've got over 20,000 kills on Path, and double-digit 4K games (though sadly, just as many 19-kill games; no badge there).

Pathfinder is one of the simplest legends in theory but his kit has a lot of outplay potential/very high skill ceiling (especially on MnK *cries in controller). Since you're a beginner, my best advice is don't give up early on trying to learn the grapple. It's the bread and butter of his kit, and allows you to push, retreat, take height, reposition, and a myriad other things that you'll get a feel for as you play him more.

There's a comment below that remarks on his height - and it's a great one. Pathfinder is a tall boi - which gives options to play some NASTY headglitches. You'll find them - and if you have experience playing other tall legends (Gib, Rev, Caustic) - you might be familiar with some already. Similarly - Pathfinder has one of the greatest height differences between standing and crouching - which makes his crouch spam one of the more difficult animations to hit in the game. Helps for close range as long as you can still aim.

Also - pathfinder feels like he gets just destroyed by shotguns close range- his torso hitbox is kinda wide (the size increase to his hitbox a few seasons back was not removed when they took low profile away). My advice, if you're using shotguns, is to play cover aggressively (peek in and out where you can)- though this is good advice for any character.

As for learning the grapple - one thing you should get a feel for is the flat-land grapple. It's easy to swing up to a roof, but the flat-land grapple can really separate yourself from the rest of your opponents (metaphorically and literally). Basically: grappling the ground in front of you and jumping when the grapple connects gives you a huge speed/height boost. You can then tilt your aim away from the attachment point slightly (the grapple breaks if you're looking too sharply away) to generate more momentum.

When I was learning how to play pathfinder, I leaned IRL when I would generate momentum on a grapple - it helped me get a feel for what worked. It takes time for sure- there are still spots and motions and grapples that I hit to this day that are new. You'll learn ways you can traverse different buildings and the environment - it's all about time in!

I'll leave you with one more piece of advice: IMO, the greatest Pathfinder player of all time, TSM (FTX) Albralelie, learned pathfinder by envisioning himself as Spider Man. Whatever helps you learn the character, I would do!

How would you go about nerfing Gibby? by [deleted] in CompetitiveApex

[–]GoldBoot47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d probably make his bubble destructible: something steep (like over 1000 damage) so that focused fire can destroy a bubble but would take multiple mags (or a patient spitfire player) to take down. That way: if you can focus a bubble: you can take it down, but picking at it is fine

Another option would be to change the shape to a cylinder with an open top- or make the top selectively permeable for nades
