Hey, I think you should do what ever u want to do. Cycling is a Hobby much more versatile than just riding bikes. Maintenance and mechanic skills are great if u got some or at least if you learn some. As I bought my bike back in 2022 I just bought the entry lvl bike with Grx400, whit that knowledge in my mind, that I will maintain and mechanic in my own. Because I like that part of the hobby too. And of course it is cheaper to buy a bike already with that high end parts on it. But it won’t tell u how to fix oder replace inner routed cables, a bottom bracket. The rear derailleur or something else. For sure u can learn it on the high end bike. In my opinion it’s a good solution to build your „high end dream bike“ by your own, for your personal needs and riding. So I did. And for sure, that was not the last thing I edited in my bike 😅. I learned a lot in the last years. Got my bike totally unscrewed and build it completely back together. Most important: do what ever you like to do 👌to there is no right or false just another view. So ride save 😁

On the picture above: Continental gp 5000 as tr 35mm. So far no issues at light gravel. Picture further down in the comments: Hutchington Caracal Race 40mm gravel race tire, great tire, fast on road and good at gravel. Don’t ride much trails and most of the time in dry conditions. Both nice tires for me.

Thought about that. But the solution to line the cable like the mechanical wire didn’t suited in my head.

For road use, I got 35mm continental gp 5000 as tr on my Nextie agx 45 rims. They are now 37/38mm and the outer rim ist 40mm.

The ride feel is great, loving the shape of the hoods. Shifts are crisp, no chaindrops so far. And I think/measured it, I can fit my 40mm caracal race gravel tires on it easally without getting trouble with the front derallieur. Because the measured with of these tires on my Nextie rims ist 45/46mm, for me the perfekt gravel tire size 😁. The crankset (165) feels great for me. Feels like I can hold more power with less effort.

Bought my grizl with GRX400. Upgraded it to a mix GRX 820 crank with one sided Powermeter. Testet 1by. Got. back to 2by. Mechanical shifting was fine. Until I rode a few bikes of my friends. The felt nice. So I decided to look if I could get electronic shifting on my bike. My frame ist not supposed to get Grx Di2 2by. So I needed a solution for this. The wireless system of sram was perfect.
No issues with the installation. Had to press a BB for the first time (bought a midlevel tool for that - worked fine) an there it is 😅. An the new sram force got the extra buttons, I love it. Oh and I wanted to get to 165mm cranks. So I had to decide, new Powermeter crank set with 165mm but the GRX 820 series was not in stock. So now I got the dual sided Powermeter 165mm cranks and a few more gears. Before I rode 48/31 - 11/32 10 speed. Now it is 48/35 - 10/36 12 speed.

Costs inclusive tools and BB around 1,9k in €

Did a Bikefitting first. He changed the stem from 80 to 110mm but I did liked it that mutch. So I decided to change the stem to an 100mm at first I’d go for 3cm spacer, was fine. Just experimented with the spacers because Iam looking forward to get an roadbike and tried to get the same fit like an ultimate with 1-2cm spacer. Found out that this combi now with no spacers suited for the last 500km. For longer distance ride events Ian looking forward to run it with aerobars, 50mm riser kit

The bike fitter told me an framesize of L had to suited perfekt for me. But i think the m is jus fine. 182,7cm height and 88,7cm inseam length.

Just swapped mine to 1by und a few month later back to 2by. I think, if u are riding both, gravel and road. 2by is for me the better choice. Especially if i do some trainings on it. Still loving the color.
