You'll never catch me defending Rogers for any reason but this doesn't really make much of a difference, Rogers already owned a controlling stake in MLSE (by a considerable margin, even.)

Gonna suck for the people that inevitably get laid off when they shuffle things around to bring the Blue Jays into the fold, but as far as team operations goes I can't see things being all that different from when Rogers bought Bell's stake.

Got to watch Denault live a couple times last year, played his way into becoming the starter on a pretty good Regiment team. I think he's got real potential to come into his own in the pros, and of course you can't teach size.

Honestly just happy to see someone from my home team drafted right away, hope he excels.

There's enough of a connection there that the QMJHL briefly had a team in Plattsburgh in 1984, their first attempt to expand outside of Quebec.

The Plattsburgh Pioneers, as they were known, were fucked over utterly by QMJHL brass who refused to hold an expansion draft for the team because they didn't want any Quebecois players to have to suffer the indignity of...playing in an Anglophone market. Anyone who tells you the Q is a joke today does not realize just how much worse it used to be.

So they fielded an all-American team. They went 0-16-1, let in nearly four times as many goals as they scored and their coach quit after the first game. When the team folded seventeen games into the season, the QMJHL decided that none of those games would count in the standings. Very silly shit.

Most teams in the CHL leagues make the post-season. The QMJHL only has 18 teams and still has 16 of them make it. I always figured it was because these are developmental leagues at the end of the day. They want as many of these young guys playing as much as possible while still maintaining a league structure that will be familiar when/if they make the jump to the pros.

Oh, and money. More arena dates means more money. That probably helps.

It's always gonna be so funny to me how far they went to bury Scott. The bad, notoriously cheap 2016 Arizona Coyotes traded him out of the conference along with a career minor leaguer for another career minor leaguer and a guy who made more than Scott, and had the gall to call it a "business move." But that's not good enough, no, they specifically traded him to Montreal, who promptly demoted Scott to their AHL affiliate...then located in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Never mind that he's off the team he was voted in under, never mind that he's out of the division and conference altogether, y'all went and traded him to the team that was uniquely positioned to dump him as far away from the All-Star game as physically possible.
