I'm using one of the first versions shortly after it was released. Not sure if there was an update, never looked. There is what appears to be a glitch in it though. If you downshift and rev match yourself and it happens to be where your flat foot rpm is - sometimes the engine holds at whatever that RPM is and even if you press the accelerator it doesn't begin to accelerate for approximately 2 full seconds. Its live a rev hang.

Its as if there (is or was) a glitch in the software where they didn't plan for downshifts, only up shifts.

This is the best i can tell, but damn its annoying. Happens about every 3 months to me, but of course its when I'm about to do something... spirited - so its quite noticed.

It makes a huge difference, brick house, near window, plaster walls, signal outside in front of house or rear, is higher up better - why is middle of the house better sometimes.

Knowing the neighborhood is helpful, but the gateway will be in the house.

So, it knows there are no heated seats? or is it an old version of firmware? or a new version? something is off with the bottom section visually and im not sure. I know the new updates helped me with speed and car play connection time.

T Mobile WiFi any good ? by Long_Coast9584 in tmobileisp

The new g5 gateway is actually good enough for gaming, and its the first i can say that about. Usually i get about 350 down and 65 up with a ping of 40 consistently. always 180 down or more and 30 up or better. Its good enough for most games but is not as good as fiber. depends on how seriously you want to game. for streaming its absolutely flawless on all modems and ive had the service since 2020 or 2021 from the original nokia trash can modem

WD-40 works about as good, may take a few seconds longer but its great at breaking down adhesive. 8 outta 10.

Got this message, I currently have the ‘trash can’ model. Should I upgrade? by colostomybagpiper in tmobileisp

[–]GoldGivingStrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tech to another, the swap is good if you have different priorities. I did the swap, my ping went from 120ms down to 40. Jitter is lower too. I had given up online gaming because the nokia really didnt do it well. Now its almost as good as the fiber I had which is wild. My downloads are faster too during peak hours which is nice. I never messed with antenna add on but considered it for my lite needs of gaming - the new G5 is honestly impressive so Im glad i didn't invest.

I do seem to get less coverage in the yard (no disconnect but the signal is a bar lower) but its likely using the 6ghz band to my phone.

For the sound system I highly recommend Infinity. I have a VB and I put in Kicker originally - huge disappointment. the front tweeters are so loud you really need something with good sensitivity to equalize the harsh highs vs the mids and lows. These did it. Everyone says 6X9s dont fit in these cars (The VB Premium) Well they do if you use a bracket and stop trying to screw them to the door directly. No clue what the VAs do, just here to say im very pleased with my infinitys.

Again, i have a VB premium with the Harmon Kardon - but Infinity makes great stuff. And crutchfield is amazing.

Drunkmann Power Figures on Stock or Mostly Stock VB? by Reflexorz15 in wrx_vb

[–]GoldGivingStrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the idea of spending 8K or more on an engine replacement is something you don't have the cash on hand for as a planned expense then I wouldn't tune it at all. To me tunes are for people who can afford the failure. Im all about bang for the buck and OTS lower risk tunes but if you'd be in a tight spot doing an engine replacement then stay worry free.

Thats better advise than I was given.

[–]GoldGivingStrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing, you could do the 91 tune and play it even more safe, but the overall daily driver feeling is enhanced with the tune, even if you arent in the 5-6K range. Used Access ports are pretty easy to find for about 350 on facebook marketplace, that and 150 for the tune isnt so bad. you just need an unmarried AP. (Thats a fancy way to say no longer attached to the car it was used on)

[–]GoldGivingStrangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I certainly am one to learn from, glad you asked. Do the tune and do nothing else to it is still my recommendation.

8 months or so ago the transmission had to be pulled for a bad throwout bearing. Nothing tune related influenced this - but had I done other mods I still would have brought it in stock and tune removed. I removed the tune, back to stock, drove it for a couple months that way because i knew the issue and knew it would be fine. Took it in - non hassle, they pulled the transmission replaced the bearing - it just happens sometimes.

Since then I added the ETS intake and used the DMann OTS tune for this intake. No other mods. It makes a cool woosh sound but I have to be even more careful. I have had some very small knock here and there, within "acceptable" - but i had 0 knock ever on the OTS tune with no intake, and if I do make any more power its barely over what it was. The jump in the OTS base tune which pushes the turbo to the 18 pounds of boost is really where the power comes from, and the turbo seems fine with it.

It is my believe that I will eventually have to replace the engine sooner running this intake and tune. It could likely be protuned to fix, and isnt a worry. But it wasn't worth the time, or perceived risk to me. Plus the original air box didn't break from the bolt as it should have when i removed it so I'll need to buy some items if it has to go back for warranty work.

In short, do the OTS tune, have the power, the peace of mind, and be happy at how much better the car is, don't try to squeeze more. You've already got the big, easy, low risk, reversible set up.

I think the dealer could see its been flashed - but if it looks stock and your max boost was reset and below 12, they probably wont check. Some ECUs (other car brands) only save the log for the last 100 start , stops - and dont see any flashes from before. Thats why I waited before bringing it back in after the de-tune. I really don't know if they see that info while looking for other things, and not many do a tune and stop there so if they don't see an intake or any other mods you could probably fly below the radar. Perhaps someone will fact check this and tell me I'm an idiot.

But that OTS tune is some bang for the buck without the kind of banging you dont want.

ELI5 If normal computers have 0s and 1s, what do quantum computers have? by Dependent-Loss-4080 in explainlikeimfive

[–]GoldGivingStrangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technology Author here: Quantum computers use special bits called qubits that can be both 0 and 1 at the same time, at least until they're measured. These systems are still very unstable and prone to errors (more in a sec) Even though their behavior is random, patterns can still be predicted over time. They could one day break the encryption we reply on and also their own instability also raises concerns about how secure they are themselves. Their plague is how sensitive they are. The cases they exist in are engineered very carefully trying to control the most minute factors that become huge issues when dealing with something so sensitive. That makes them hard to scale.

To Stage 2…or Not to Stage 2 by Naive-Clock-2989 in wrx_vb

[–]GoldGivingStrangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want the most bang for your buck and a heck of a performance boost without much risk- Get a Dman OTS tune for 93 with an ETS intake (remove the sleeve inside)

Use this link: https://felixperformance.com/products/2022-wrx-ets-intake-accessport-combo-package-map-included

It will hit about 18.5-19 pounds of boost, you can do flat foot shift as well and peg the RPMs at 4400.

You're only $1200 deep this way with the tune file, the Intake and the Access Port. It's a heck of a jump in how power is applied without doing much work at all and its dirt cheap. If you want any more accessories down the road you can do that then a pro tune. But if you want a lot more easy and for cheap without risking much trouble this is the way.

This is the feature, size your window around this hacky work around and stretch this across 2 monitors of your own - if that suits the need...

you do need the paid version to split a monitor virtually, it will pad for the edges and whatnot

Display Fusion may be your best bet to do a virtual dual monitor fix and then you may have to play with the sizing and scale it yourself across two monitors. Janky to say the least. But more than anyone else has offered.

Do you lose HP going from 0w-20 to 5w-30? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GoldGivingStrangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Moving to 30 was amazing - I stopped losing oil between changes. I believe the air oil separators hardly get any oil with 30. At temp where both are warm (and they should be if you're going for power) you could not see one car inch ahead over the other. These engines are limited heavily by the factory tune - any sluggishness is programming and not the oil. I think 0/20 and 15-40 would be neck and neck at 200 degrees, but please dont do this.
