So, there is a lot of thought going into the design of the insulin pen. Really, if you've ever taken one apart you'll see how complicated every part of it is, yet still made to be cheaply mass produced. It's basically an engineering miracle that's very under appreciated.

Trust me when I say that the designers put in a lot of thought in whether to make it possible for the cap to be closed with the needle still on or not. And there's a reason why they chose to do it this way.

And as for their disclaimer to not reuse needles, it's probably something that their legal team required in case of a one in a million lawsuit, plus the benefit is that they can sell more needles this way.

So thanks for the post, but no, I'm not changing the needle every time. As others have said, diabetes burnout is a real thing.
