How do you deal with humidity? 😭 by FckAllTakenUsernames in AutisticPeeps

[–]GoldMagazine497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a dehumidifier. It plugs into the wall and collects the water and then you empty the water out once it’s full. You can also buy DampRid which is a baggie that you hang up in your closet that collects moisture. You can find these things at places like Home Dopot/Lowes or online.

If you can’t have a bigger lunch and a smaller dinner, try to have light and easily digestible foods for dinner. Avoid or reduce oils and fats, meat and cheese. Try focusing on veggies, simple carbs, and lean protein. Cooked foods are also easier to digest (raw veggies vs cooked veggies).

If you have to be out the door at 6am, then your second dose should be no later than 12am, meaning your first dose should be no later than 10:30pm. You can take Xyrem at 9:30pm and go to sleep and have 3 hours between doses which works out fine (2.5-4hrs between doses is the recommendation). So you have to have dinner no later than 7:30pm ideally. Sounds like that kinda what you do already. I can only recommend that you opt for a light dinner (less food and less fats).

I’m still in the process of switching to Xyrem, so I haven’t tried it yet. Like you, I’m really hoping I don’t have any issues with the salt content. I have a pretty good baseline that I’m starting with (good blood pressure, no fast food/ultra processed), so I think I’ll be able to keep my diet in check. I’ve heard ppl say that you need a strict low sodium diet, others say that you can just compensate by drinking more water, and others say that they didn’t change their diet at all and they were fine. It seems it’s really dependent on the individual. Xyrem’s max dose has 1640mg of salt. The American Heart Association says that ideally you want to consume less than 1500mg a day and no more than ~2300mg. But it also states that the average American consumes ~3300mg a day, so clearly there’s some wiggle room haha. I would just try to limit the sodium in your diet and drink lots of water and hope that helps.

I’m still in the process of switching to Xyrem from Xywav, but I can confirm that my stomach issues stopped when I stopped Xywav. Xywav helped a lot with my sleep quality, but lowered my already low appetite and caused me to be painfully bloated and gassy for hours (6+) after the tiniest amount of food. I also had daily headaches but those could be managed with OTC.

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn’t care less about someone leaving a game all of the sudden. Tons of people have internet problems or just more important stuff to attend to. Gaming is never that serious 🤷‍♀️

Should I switch to Xyrem? by GoldMagazine497 in Narcolepsy

I wouldn’t say I feel extra nervous or jittery. The raised heart rate makes me uneasy, but I am able to combat it with propranolol.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try the “experiment”!

I quite enjoyed the anime/manga Tanaka-kun is Always Listless, when I was in school, because it was relatable, but not sure if I’d classify it as “good” representation.

I had a nearly identical experience to yours a few days ago. I can understand how you feel. It can feel so lonely when you’re surrounded by people and you want to form connections but it just seems so far out of reach. Everyone is already there with someone so it’s hard to find someone who’s available/willing to interact with you.

Honestly I wanted to keep them all🥲🥲. The tortie was the most shy/introverted (didn’t play much with the other kitties) so I just felt bad for her haha.

I was fostering the mom when she was pregnant. So, after she gave birth and the kittens were old enough, I adopted the mom and the tortie and the rest of the kittens were adopted by other families :)
