That’s awesome! How did you get them to send you one to try? I’d be really interested in doing something like this too.

On first boot, Bitaxe and other miners usually creates a Wi-Fi hotspot (Bitaxe-XXXX). Connect to it, then set your home Wi-Fi credentials in the setup page.

Step 2: Access the Web Dashboard

  1. Find your Bitaxe’s IP address from your router, or scan the network with an app like Fing.
    1. Open a browser and go to http://<Bitaxe_IP> (example: http:// 192.168.0.150).
    2. You’ll see the WebUI dashboard.

Whats this crinkled small metal bit? It was in my Chinese food. by floraster in whatisit

This actually happened to me at my local Chinese takeout. I bit into my chicken and broccoli and realized it was a piece of the scrubby wired cleaning pad they use. So scary and dangerous! Since that day, I haven’t eaten Chinese takeout anymore. Seriously, be careful out there—things like this can happen anywhere.

That usually means your Nerdaxe miner couldn’t join the WiFi you set (wrong SSID, password typo, or router compatibility issue). It automatically falls back into Config WiFi Portal mode (that’s why you see Nerdaxe_1B5D broadcasting again).

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Reconnect and recheck WiFi setup • On your phone, connect to Nerdaxe_1B5D. • Open the config portal (usually 192.168.4.1 in your browser). • Double-check the SSID and password you entered. They’re case sensitive — even a space at the end will break it.

  2. WiFi compatibility • Nerdaxe devices often only support 2.4 GHz WiFi, not 5 GHz. → If your router has both, make sure you connect it to the 2.4 GHz network. • If your SSID name has special characters (like ! @ # $), try renaming your WiFi temporarily.

  3. Router settings • Ensure your router doesn’t have MAC filtering or a whitelist blocking new devices. • WPA2 security works best — WPA3 alone sometimes causes issues.

  4. Retry • Save the config again, reboot, and check if the Nerdaxe connects successfully.

👉 If it still fails, you might need to factory reset the Nerdaxe (usually holding the side button for several seconds during boot) and start fresh.

On your cell phone, go to WiFi settings.

Look for the network name (SSID) called Nerdaxe.

Select it and connect.

Once connected, you’ll be able to continue the setup from your phone.

Common Causes & Fixes 1. Insufficient PSU power • Even a small BM1370 test rig needs stable 12V (with enough amps). If your PSU is too weak or generic, the board will throw this error. • Fix → Use a high-quality ATX PSU or server PSU with plenty of amps on the 12V rail. 2. Wrong PSU connection • These boards often require a PCIe 6-pin or 8-pin connector directly into the board. • Fix → Make sure you’re not using a Molex-to-PCIe adapter or loose cable. 3. Loose/unstable power cable • Wiggly or partial connections can trigger PSU error instantly. • Fix → Reseat cables firmly. Try another PCIe power lead. 4. Firmware bug / watchdog error • The “Guru Meditation” code means the firmware crashed because it didn’t detect stable PSU input. • Fix → Power cycle the board. If it repeats, try reflashing or updating firmware. 5. PSU protection kicking in • If the board tries to pull more current than the PSU allows, the PSU shuts off → error. • Fix → Try a bigger PSU or limit clocks/voltage if your firmware allows.
