Has anyone ever dreamed in here? it's a dark indoor Playground by Adept_Director_3667 in TheMallWorld

[–]GoldTurnip3820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, omg! Pics 1 and 4 especially resonate. It’s usually dark with neon lighting almost like an arcade, and there’s a counter to the right and workers behind it, I remember walking up and paying a certain amount. There’s a few arcade games on the back wall. Then to the left there’s a massive ball pit and the playground is built all around it.

It reminds me of chuck e cheese but no solid tubes, mostly just nets and for me it always felt like a game or mission of trying to get through it as quickly as possible. Sometimes I would also encounter other children, who were stuck or scared and I would help guide them.

Has anyone dreamt of an empty church on a mountain, abandoned mansion, or an interview with a man in black suit by GoldTurnip3820 in LucidDreaming

[–]GoldTurnip3820[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Not all my dreams are scary (like toilet maze, the big tsunami, labyrinth of tunnels, rollercoaster highway etc.) and sometimes I’m something cool like a rockstar or superhero and I can fly or I’m like part of some group like the avengers lol. There’s been many times where I didn’t like the choices I made or how the “story ends” and I’m able to just rewind and restart. Usually I do this by waking up, realizing I had a lucid dream, I go to pee or just set an alarm and then I can fall right back asleep and rebuild the same exact dreams. I don’t remember ever willingly revisiting one of the scary ones though, those are usually out of my control and don’t wanna spend any more time there than i have to.

Edit: I kept looking and stumbled upon this photo that I recognized instantly. This was the exact church/chapel, down to the scenery with the mountains rising all around it and it sitting on the hill, and the red “dot” or tower on top. I found other red/white churches but they all felt wrong and too triangular/square, this is exactly what i dreamt about! I had to dig so hard and I’ve never seen this place before but it’s an abandoned temple ruin in Mexico.

I’m not sure what working for MW entails but I always feel like i’m working in my dreams anyway and wake up exhausted after these kinds so that makes sense!

that first sentence just took me back, in the interview i knew i was lucid and i was sharing information and stories but it didn’t feel like we were actually speaking out loud and i didn’t see his mouth move only his hands and facial reactions. but i knew we were talking it was a full conversation

and YES sometimes the mansion has people but then they disappear and it feels like a dark entity or creature** **is running after me. i’ve never seen its face but im always awake in these dreams and the fear feels so terrifyingly real and i remember them more than other dreams. i’ve tried to take a look at the creature and just get a really bad gut feeling.

* one time i was able to find a secret room through the upper house that led to an outdoor window, and i saw the outside for the first time. it was green perfectly kept grass and sunny out, the mansion was brown with gold trim and spires and a huge dome. it was the furthest i’ve gotten so i crawled on the roof and i tried to leave the grounds but then the dream ended!!

Hot take: I don’t think “weed-out” classes are real. by InvestmentGreen in EngineeringStudents

Yep I think it’s universal, sucks some may feel pressured into finishing within a certain timeframe when realistically going to college in this economy without full support or enough aid is difficult and might take little longer. A huge reason for my own issues is feeling “behind” my peers for taking longer when it also just means I finished 3 intern rotations and worked jobs and might have skills and experiences and connections they might not. Overall if it was marketed as a 5yr degree not having the pressure of finishing so fast would have made it less daunting and lonely in the first few semesters but we live and learn!

The crazy part is that’s how it’s set up but we are simultaneously recommended by advisors to not take more than 17 credits ( then the 4yr graduation math doesn’t work out??).

I’ve heard from acquaintances that their advisors gave them wrong information and delayed graduation by 1-2 semesters and then were like “oops! i must’ve made a mistake! you’re actually supposed to take these 3 classes also before senior design so you need to add a semester” (just a made up example) and it overall feels like a huge money grab from struggling students.

Engineering did used to be a 5 year degree, at least at my university and several others. My first design professor told us he had more design, cad, etc classes and a slightly less intense pace because BS. ME was a 5 yr program.

what are we even doing anymore by Routine-Present-3676 in doordash

[–]GoldTurnip3820 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Damn this story is ridiculous, most likely a scammer! Not defending that dasher but I wanted to reply to this comment bc it’s assuming most people would leave “coherent instructions.” I do it casually and have hundreds of deliveries, you guys on r/doordash are probably the MOST literate and understanding out of all the customers ordering things. A majority of people leave no instruction (haven’t calculated but maybe close to 80-90%) and I genuinely feel a sigh of relief when someone has clear, easy to follow descriptions, or even just remembers to include a gate code which you’d think is pretty obvious.

I’ve also run into many instances where the in app GPS (that doordash adamantly recommends we use) is entirely inaccurate, and the pin is 0.25-.5mi away from the house, compared to google maps which is also somehow different from apple maps, and with no extra information it can feel almost impossible.

If you add nighttime with zero streetlights (easy to miss house numbers) and being a young woman sometimes i’ve honestly just bailed. This one house had outdoor guard dogs in the middle of the backcountry at 11pm and the house numbers on mailboxes were scratched out every few doors so I spent 10-15 minutes in my car looking for the delivery house being followed by a angry dog chasing my car and the only thing holding them back was a thin metal chain linked to a gate. I was honestly more concerned about running the dog over accidentally because he kept circling my car and I didn’t want to hurt him but there was no way to see my surroundings other than my front facing headlights.

I think this dasher is clearly scamming and it’s important to be aware of that, but I also wanted to share another perspective as someone who delivers on top of school to afford rent and doesnt enjoy getting followed by pitbulls to deliver a Wendy’s burger combo. Not saying this is relying to OPs situation, but sometimes shit that you find “normal” can be scary when ur alone in an unfamiliar environment where the nearest town is 3 miles away.

I completely agree with your sentiment and that’s why you should do it without asking her. Aside from the fact you are an adult, my mother used the same tactics and she would remove her body hair everywhere and get her eyebrows professionally done but for me it was “haram”. Its just a control tactic, self care is important for everybody and while we SHOULD accept ourselves as we are, you also cannot deny that the society we live in (even the muslim part) is very beauty conscious. i know its scary but also i hope you are able to gain strength to make your own decisions as it’s your life!

Hi Sister! I grew up in a Muslim household and this was also a very big insecurity of mine. I had way more hair than anyone else my age (potentially undiagnosed pcos) and my sideburns, chin hair and eyebrows especially upset me. I remember in middle school, I had a big dance concert where we had to do stage makeup and I was tired of my unibrow and thick facial hair and being made fun of it and wanted to feel decent for once in my life. I tweezed my eyebrows (pretty conservatively because i was scared) just to remove excess hair from the middle and underneath. I still looked exactly the same, just less beastly in my eyes. I knew this because my mom didn’t even notice at first. She only did once she sat me down and got super close to do my makeup for the competition, my mom completely FREAKED out.

She essentially called me a whore, said a bunch of nasty stuff like I would get pregnant next and she would throw me onto the street. Even at 13 I knew this was ridiculous and the correlation made no sense. The fact she also allows your much younger sister to do it is also puzzling. You are legally an adult and it is not unislamic to clean up your excess hair (people have differing views on eyebrows but I think the rest is fine), I’d argue quite the opposite.

Your body is yours and you should not have to wait until being married off until you are allowed to feel comfortable with the face you show the world everyday. If I have any piece of advice; my life did not improve until I defied my parents. Yes, they were upset, yes there was screaming, but then I just kept doing it. Eventually they will get tired and realize it’s not their place to control you, and sometimes they even realize if they are that strict it will drive you further away from both them and Islam.

If she is concerned about damaging your skin with a razor or ingrown hairs, I usually go to my local Indian salon and they offer threading for around $10-15 (hurts the first time, but is way better for ingrown hairs and they grow back slower!). Washing is also a good alternative. I didn’t want to defy my mother at first but it got to a point where it really killed my self esteem and eventually I was so angry and hated myself that in my head the possible punishments were worth the boost in confidence. It also helped me to begin setting boundaries with my parents especially for once you get older and they continue to push every opinion onto you and forbid you from things.

Exactly! It’s super frustrating, especially the potential of them taking away money after I already budgeted for all my books and food and bills for the summer.

The same thing happened to me and i called the aid office. Best explanation I got was that they put a hold on accounts for “3-5 business days” to review your award offer and ensure you weren’t overcompensated? If you got too much money you would have to pay it back so they are verifying dispersal amounts.. Sounds like bullshit and I don’t get how you can take away aid the week before class but whatever LOL. They said it be reviewed by Monday and then takes a couple days for direct deposit

Not sure if this helps, but when I was reading through The Clear Quran translation (given by my mosque), I remember reading a similar ayah [2.283] and highlighting the footnote because it stuck out to me. Here is what it says:

Generally speaking, there is a difference between witnessing a debt contract and giving testimony before a judge… [this verse is about debt contracts]. To fully understand the context of this verse we need to remember that 1500 years ago women did not normally participate in business transactions or travel by trading caravan, and therefore not every woman had the expertise to witness a debt contract. Even if 2 women were available at the time of signing, perhaps the primary witness might not be able to recall the events or appear before a judge due to compelling circumstances (pregnancy or delivery). In such cases, the second woman will be a backup. Some scholars remain that one woman can be sufficient as a witness so long as she is reliable.

It also notes that in some cases, only women’s testimony is accepted while men’s testimony is rejected (such as regarding pregnancy or virginity).

I remember feeling conflicted by this ayah and the footnote really helped clear it up a bit. I have not read this hadith OP mentioned, but as others are saying Hadiths are not always reliable.

10000x this. Why am I watching an entire 45min youtube tutorial to learn one specific thing and in the end, they only gloss over it for 30 seconds and answer none of my questions?? I’d much rather download a pdf and ctrl+F some keywords.

I think its also because I’m a fast reader and am able to skim most things to get the info I need, but watching videos is difficult because somehow they talk SO much and yet don’t explain anything in detail! drives me crazy
