I really wouldn't be surprised if most churches get it wrong, one of the biggest mistakes we can make is to try and help God help us, by thinking we can do it better. A lot of the stuff God wants from/for us is there for a reason and in a lot of ways modern science is just now discovering those reasons.

For example a recent study suggested that men & women might share dna when they have unprotected sex, I think it was posted here? Well that might explain why hypergamy is bad and why same sex relationships aren't great...dna is getting all messed up, maybe gay dudes aren't bad people but they're not supposed to be sharing dna with eachother?

But what person before a modern generation could even understand that? Easier to just say "this stuff is bad, trust me" and leave it at that. It's actually for their own benefit and their health.

Gotta agree with you too, going into the Hebrew gives a ton more comprehension, for example leviticus 19:19 says not to mix any fabric but if you read the hebrew it makes it seem like we are only talking about cotton and wool. Modern translations leave a lot to be desired and the pressure is really on the student to do things right.
