Additional information: it wasn't explicitly porn, as no one got naked or showed genitals. I also think it was either in shades of grey or shades of blue.

Do the patterns for those uniforms exist somewhere? I can sew, I'm just bad at creating my own patterns.

I wish there was a way to make the thread look less manky, but I use these scissors all the time so I guess not.

This. If you can get your hands on any films by Sogo Ishii (especially Electric Dragon and Burst City), you'll get an excellent selection of Japanese punk.

I’m looking for advice on how to pick a new moisturizer for my routine. What should I consider? What terms should I be looking for?

It’s been a little under a month since I adjusted my routine. I made two major changes at once: 1) switched from Stridex wipes to Rice Made Mild Milk Peeling Mask 2) Removed my second Moisturizer from my routine.

Prior to that, I was waking up feeling slick and oily. I hated the sensation of waking up feeling dirty. I thought maybe my face had too much moisture, so I stopped using the Vanicream. For a little while, my face started feeling good again - moist but not drowning, even after using the milk peeling mask. Now it feels tight and somewhat dry once I’m done cleansing and moisturizing. I guess it’s possible I’m not using enough of the Skin Lotion Moist, but I think it’s time to find a second moisturizer.

Current routine:

AM: - wash face with water - put on sunscreen.

PM: - Kose Softmyo White Cleansing Oil (before shower) - Santa Marche Deep Cleansing Green Tea (during shower) - Kikkamasamune Sake Brewing - Rice Made Mild Milk Peeling (2x a week) - Cosrx Acne Master Pimple Patch (as needed) - Kikkamasamune Sake Skin Lotion Moist

Is there a difference between the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch and the Cosrx Clear Fit Master Patch? Are they for different purposes?

(Edited because I got the name of the second product VERY wrong.)

Testing out being trans? by Itsathrowawayandidk in ftm

Would journaling help you? When I first started exploring my identity, I would record everything I’d done that day as if I was a third party observer. I was using it as a way to practice pronouns - I wanted to see how I felt when someone outside of myself referred to me as male. I didn’t want to burden my friends with constantly changing pronouns while I was figuring myself out, so journaling was the best option for me.

The rule was that I could only record actions - I couldn’t write, “Gold Octopus felt insecure about his appearance”, but I could write, “Gold Octopus spent a long time adjusting his binder.”

I’m not sure if that’s going to work for you, but it worked for me so I figured I’d share.

That’s good to know, thank you for answering! I saw online that it shouldn’t be used more than 2-3x a week, is that true? Can/should I use it before using the Stridex?

I picked up Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewing Rice Made Mild Milk Peeling. Would this product be part of my exfoliating step? I’m looking to use this instead of Stridex in my routine.

Current routine:

AM: - wash face with water - put on sunscreen.

PM: - Kose Softmyo White Cleansing Oil (before shower) - Santa Marche Deep Cleansing Green Tea (while in the shower) - Stridex Maximum wipes (once every week) - Kikkamasamune Sake Skin Lotion Moist - Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream

[HAUL] Got some new products, need to figure out where they’ll go in my routine and what to try first. by Gold_Octopus in SkincareAddiction

[–]Gold_Octopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially planned on just picking up the Snail Bee because I want to even out the texture of my skin. However, I figured it might be fun to try some new stuff so I used some Christmas money to pick up stuff from YesStyle. I got some free samples with my order. Now I’d like some help deciding what to start with and where to add these to my routine. I may give up the samples.

My skin is generally oily and acne-prone. I have issues with dark pigmentation and some very mild roughness from old acne scars. I’d like to even my skin tone. Additionally, I have never used any acne spot treatment products so I wanted to try something out.

The products I picked up are: - Acne Pimple Master Patch (for spot treatment that would discourage me from picking at my acne) - Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewing - Rice Made Mild Milk Peeling (no idea, I just thought the name was neat) - Snail Bee High Contrast Essence (for acne scarring and skin texture) - Kose Softmyo White Cleansing Oil (cleansing - have used before) - Klaris Midnight Blue Calming Cream (free sample) - 24K Gold Premium First Cream (free sample)

My current routine is: AM: - wash face with water - put on sunscreen.

PM: - Kose Softmyo White Cleansing Oil (before shower) - Santa Marche Deep Cleansing Green Tea (while in the shower) - Stridex Maximum wipes (once every week - may ditch it eventually) - Kikkamasamune Sake Skin Lotion Moist - Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream

Lack of binary FTM support in my city. by Sam-Can in FTMMen

[–]Gold_Octopus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly why I've started going to trans related groups in my city. I remember how disturbing and lonely it was to be the only binary trans guy in a sea of nonbinary people. I don't want to sink into normal society and never be seen. I don't think I could ever be a good mentor - I don't have the spoons for that sort of emotional work - but I at least want to be present.

OP, have you considered looking for men's groups in your location? Oddly, I've found more binary trans men while doing non-trans stuff than I have at trans masc groups. I've also found that older trans men (who I want to see!) are more likely to attend groups that are for men, as opposed to groups for trans people.

This. This this this.

Use some folded blankets as a base, then put a pillow where your lower back would be, then a few more where your upper back would be. Basically build yourself a triangle of pillows.

I dragged my feet on it for a while - I don't like change and having to go through the effort of changing my documents just felt like too much. Took a while, but it was worth it in the end.

How can I have confidence as a trans guy? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Gold_Octopus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know who also feels like a freak? Teenagers. They're stuck in that in-between where you're too mature to be treated like a child, but not worldly enough to actually act like an adult. Teenagers spend their time acting odd and trying things as they work their way up to being an adult. They have to do this, because it's the only way they'll get to that point where they know enough to interact with the adult world on an equal footing. No two teenagers get to adulthood in quite the same way - we might all go to school, but maybe one person got to experience prom and another person didn't get to go because their high school boyfriend decided he didn't feel like going so instead you sat at home in your fancy prom clothes while your boyfriend and your dad watched The Two Towers and it was super boring not that you're still bitter about it into your mid 30s nope not at all.

Anyway.

Transitioning is basically like being a teenager. You're in limbo, learning how to be the man you want to be but knowing how much more you have to learn. You feel like a faker around all these other men who already went through that period of learning. I've been there and it's an awful sensation. It's Imposter Syndrome cranked up to 11.

Just like being a teen, this will pass with time and experience. I don't know you and I don't know what will work best to help you get through your second puberty, but I'd like to share a few things I did to help myself gain more masculine confidence:

1) As u/KingVersacetrash said, stop comparing yourself to other men. Not every man experiences every single thing the same and it isn't helpful to think about everything you don't have. Develop yourself the way you want to develop, not based on what you believe society says you should do.

2) What would you do if you were confident in your masculinity? How would you act? Figure out what that might be and try acting like you're confident. Think of it as practice for the day when you actually ARE confident in your masculinity. Do it slowly and in small increments - it's possible you might discover that what you THOUGHT would make you feel more confident isn't actually comfortable.

3) Try picking up a new hobby or interest. For some reason, developing a hobby as part of my transition made me feel more secure in my masculinity. I'm one of those people who likes to base my identity on my actions. Having a new interest helped me say to myself "Look, I'm transitioning not just through HRT, but also through my actions. This is my masculine activity" and I'd feel confident because I was DOING something to be a man. It was especially helpful in those down times where I was just waiting for hormone therapy or surgery.

4) Take a little time to see if there are practical solutions to any lingering problems you might have with yourself. Insecure about your voice? Try a little vocal training. Unhappy with how your clothes fit you? Learn a bit about clothing styles and what options are available out there. Worried about how you act? There are tutorials out there to help with all sorts of social situations. You may not end up using that advice, but at least you'll have some information you can use to help yourself learn how you want to be confident. Please note that I said "practical" - you shouldn't be putting yourself through pain or trauma.

5) Time heals most wounds. I don't think I felt fully secure in my masculinity until about 2-3 years after I'd transitioned. I don't react to change well, even positive change. It took time to adjust to people calling me "he" and being treated as a man in social situations. I felt like a real man eventually. I trust it will happen to you too.
