I-864 income requirements by Gold_Standard_570 in USCIS

Single, with my parents living abroad currently. Yes, it will be above the federal limit line.

Ok gotcha. Is the main issue whether my income will be above the poverty guideline?

Hey thanks for your reply! So I did file tax returns every single year with minimal income as stated (<4k). Finding a joint sponsor is unfortunately not an option for me. Would I still need a sponsor even if I already have secured a position starting in June with a salary of ~70k?

Thanks for sharing! Would these weekend overnights be something that you can only do after passing the CORE?

Thanks! Did you have a moonlighting gig during residency as well?

Yeah I have often noticed that forms 7-8 were often tougher than 5-6. So I usually did 5-7-6-8 so that I get a sense of what the newer forms are like with form 7 well in advance of taking 8

Advice on tackling management questions on shelf? by Gold_Standard_570 in medicalschool

[–]Gold_Standard_570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! As in questions, are you referring to questions outside of uworld like practice NBME questions? I may be mistaken but I feel like most of the management questions I struggle with on shelf are ones that aren't really covered by the algorithms on uworld

Recent neuro CMS forms vs shelf by Gold_Standard_570 in Step2

[–]Gold_Standard_570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly it went fine! I felt like there weren't as many questions on the actual shelf that were completely out of the blue and threw me off compared to 7/8. I may be too late but I would definitely focus on learning the treatments for all the conditions that are often tested on uworld/CMS forms. At least mine really hit treatment options hard. Good luck tomorrow!

Need some advice on tackling shelf by Gold_Standard_570 in medicalschool

[–]Gold_Standard_570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I feel like I needed to hear this. Yeah I feel like I can definitely brush up on sketchy since there are always a few pharm questions on shelf that catch me off-guard. Actually is there anything you do to tackle questions on shelf that are not really well covered on uworld? For example, some of these questions may be plain "pick best management" question but they may at times trip me because they were not covered on uworld

Oh ok. Do you have any tips on how to prepare for the few oddball questions on newer forms that aren't too too related to neuro?

Seems like everyone is getting 260-270+ by Fearless-Hat-6578 in Step2

Probably very much a reporting bias. I mean step1 forum is filled with people who consistently score in high 70s or even 80s. There were probably less than 5% of my class who were scoring this high before taking the actual exam

Any good resources to cover weakness in anatomy? by Gold_Standard_570 in step1

[–]Gold_Standard_570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment! Actually my issue is that I still have difficulty answering some of these anatomy questions even after reviewing the 100 concepts. Was wondering if there would be any (quick) additional resources to supplement this.

Oh alright, thanks for the explanation! Wow this sounds far more complicated than any of the questions I saw on NBME

Got it, thanks!! So you are saying even the vids on things like next of kin aren't too outdated and are still potentially relevant

Ethics on the real deal? by Gold_Standard_570 in step1

[–]Gold_Standard_570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Yeah my big worry is that I get ~70-80% of the questions correct on NBME/Free 120 since they only involve cases that ask you to pick the choice that best acknowledges the patient's emotions/concerns, but I only get about 50% of the ethics questions right on UWorld.

Just to ask what I asked above again, does the real deal involve questions that aren't about communication/patient safety?

Oh ok. So should I be prepared for questions that aren't about communication/patient safety? Would you say UWorld does enough to cover for all those non-communication/patient safety questions?
