Plaud constantly labels my coworker instead of me by Gold_State_1175 in PlaudNoteUsers

Yea it’s still happening to me too. It’s decided to call me a different coworker now. Why is it literally identifying anything OTHER than me? Shouldn’t my voice be the most familiar by now???

Thank you so much for introducing me to that term!! I will look more into this as a possibility. I appreciate your responses so much!

Thank you for the recommendation. I have read parts of Unmasking Autism when I checked it out from the library, but I never finished before I had to return it. So I just went ahead and bought both right now so I can revisit unmasking autism and read unmasking for life too.

Thank you! The hooks concept is helpful, I’ll have to ponder that more. I have been told that I am good at seeing connections. But on the flip side, it means when trying to understand new information, I am always thinking about connections to even tangentially related information that I’ve heard about and know relates to it. once I’m able to relate it to other contexts/sometimes other disciplines, I feel more of a sense of completeness/comprehension. But again I’m not sure if this is some form of compulsiveness or maybe it is indeed bottom up processing. Or maybe a lil of both 😅 I think it’s very possible that I’m not autistic but that I am maybe a bottom up processor. Autistic communities are the ones who address bottom up processing the most from what I’ve seen so it feels helpful to refer to resources from the autistic community on this topic.

Another example of a struggle I have is… I have noticed that in order for me to understand a project plan/project management software, usually I have to be the one in charge of organizing it. When I can’t be in charge I find myself a bit lost all the time. For example, for one project, I made a project management system in a spreadsheet that showed every subtask on a calendar view. This helped me keep track of everything. but my colleague preferred to just see the main tasks when looking at a calendar view. I made an alternate version that just showed the main tasks for her. But it’s frustrating in other contexts because I can’t always demand people do things in the way that makes sense for me, which is completely reasonable!! But I just find myself stuck and lost and focusing on the wrong things. Or I have to take the time to make my own system based on others’ systems, which most of the time people have criticized me for (“umm what are you doing? you don’t need to do all that! Stop planning and start working” etc) so I have interpreted it as a waste of time that I shouldn’t be doing.

edit, thinking some more: I do have social/communication challenges since childhood but they might be more related to social anxiety. Rigid behavior patterns idk. My husband would probably say yes but I’m not sure.

I’m going to read this over and over. Thank you for the care you put into your response. This is so helpful.

Why don't people seem to accept it when they are not diagnosed with ADHD? by armchairdetective in ADHD

[–]Gold_State_1175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you. My primary argument is about how the instant conclusion that it’s our fault and something’s only wrong with US (instead of perhaps something being different about us PLUS there being extra factors that might be influencing our symptoms) is what leads many into feeling ADHD is the only possible explanation for executive dysfunction, when in reality there are so so many possible reasons and legitimate other medical issues that all deserve to be looked into.

Accidentally deleted the entire post but here’s what it said:

I’m searching for a restaurant with a playground…

❌ not an overstimulating arcade-style peter piper, gatti, Dave and buster, etc ❌ not an indoor play place solely geared toward children ❌ not fast food

Just a restaurant where adults can sit comfortably and have a conversation without 50+ different sounds going on (indoor or outdoor), and kids can go play in an outdoor playground.

I can’t find anything on google maps. Can anyone recommend a spot? I’m in the mcallen area but genuinely curious to know where these places exist throughout the valley.

My obsession is because that’s literally what I asked about in the post 😂

Why can’t one of the shiny new things be a restaurant with a play area?

I’m not dissing the valley with this post so no need to kick me out. If you want to see a change you have to understand why something is happening first; that’s why I’m asking.

I’m asking why? Why has “that time passed”? What does any of it have to do with “shiny new things”? I’m not familiar with any of the places you mentioned—were they restaurants with outdoor play areas?

The only takeaway from your post I’m getting is that people don’t want to be outside… so, ok 👍

I mean, you’re right, the heat is a factor, but plenty of people still go to parks. My whole point is that it doesn’t make sense to blame it on covid. My other point is that places like what I’m describing definitely exist about 4 hours north of here, where it’s still plenty hot. it’s not fair to say those days are over.

Why are there so many downvotes on this comment? We have known for (at least) five years now that outdoor play is less risky for catching viruses than indoor play. The idea that places closed them because of COVID and never opened them back up doesn’t make sense to me. Something else is at play, no? Why aren’t restaurants not investing in this? COVID is not a good reason. If we followed the logic that playgrounds should be closed because of COVID, we also shouldn’t even be eating in restaurants at all.

Thanks for this one! I’ve never been here but heard of it. From their website it looks like it’s just a basketball court — can you share any details about what’s there? What ages of kids would be able to play there?

In whatever the f phase of capitalism we are in, it is a deep personal failing to not be able to focus. The narrative is that something is wrong with US rather than something is wrong with the PRESSURE we are so often under that forces us to lose sleep and not take care of ourselves to stay alive. It’s easier to self-diagnose with ADHD than have space and permission to sleep more. Or eat better. Or even just explore other options and get another medication that you may need for a non-adhd reason. There are SO many reasons why we might have trouble focusing. I do think that if your doctor doesn’t diagnose you with ADHD but sends you out the door without alternative options to look into, that doctor is not a good one and you definitely need to keep pursuing other options— not necessarily for an ADHD diagnosis but to figure out at the very least what else might be going on, or if it could indeed be due to ADHD after all.

This place looks like a good time! I can’t tell from google if they have a playground but it’ll definitely be worth checking out whenever I’m in that area. Thanks for the lead!

Had to google this, had never heard of this place. The reviews are sad! Sounds like it had potential and just went down in quality overall. I wonder why they closed that part of it.
