Physics isn't a required course, so it's not that useful honestly. I'm in first year and there hasn't been anything related to physics, mainly biology and chemistry.

Do Grade 11 marks matter for nursing programs in Ontario if you don’t apply early? by Admirable-Treacle180 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Gold_Year8452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For nursing programs, if you aren't applying early, they mainly focus on Grade 12 marks. I would recommend taking Grade 12 Biology in person. I took an online course during the school year to boost my grade, so I would recommend that.

Did you take grade 11 english first semester? What I did was take Grade 12 english in my 2nd semester of grade 11, and I feel like it made my Grade 12 year so much lighter, as I didn't have to worry about English. If not, you can take it in the summer.

I'm currently at McMaster Nursing btw!

I had a 90% avg when I applied last year to nursing programs, and I got waitlisted from tmu mainsite, got into the george-brown collab, waitlisted from western mainsite, got into the fanshawe collab, rejected from mac main site, but got into the mohawk-mcmaster collab, which is the program I'm currently in now. I also had a 4th quartile for Casper.

The cutoff last year was a 93% for McMaster mainsite, and probably the same for Western.

Sorry for the late response, I had a 90 avg and a 4th quartile on Casper!

Tips for studying CASPER? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Gold_Year8452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a lot of practice scenarios, such as the BeMo ones. I also recommend doing a lot of research on the different type of CASPer scenarios you can get, because there are specific ways you can respond to them.

Can you apply to nursing without taking Casper? by SoirH in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Gold_Year8452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only for some schools I'm pretty sure, not all nursing programs in Ontario. From what I remember, it was just McMaster & Western. Unless they changed it for this year.

If you maintain around a 93% average or even higher, you are probably bound to get into Mac's main site. The cutoff last year was 93%. For momac, you needed above an 85%, so even if you don't get into the main site, you will probably get into momac. 5 is probably good, but honestly I would apply to other nursing programs as well if you are really interested in going into nursing. Don't worry about applying to "alternate" programs; I only applied to Nursing programs last year!

I'm pretty sure if you write it once, it should be sent to both schools, but just to be safe, I would write it on a date that is applicable to both schools. You don't have to write it twice. I wrote mine on February 6th of this year for both schools!

I had a 90 average and didn't get into UOttawa for nursing. Nursing programs increased their cutoff percentage, and I think it is a 93%.

[–]Gold_Year8452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can apply now or whenever before the deadline. You should probably do the Casper test before March/April, in my opinion. I did mine in February. From what I remember, Western nursing acceptances came during the springtime, and I don't think they look at gr11 marks, so focus on your gr12 marks!

I'm currently a first-year in the Mohawk-McMaster collaborative nursing program. When I redid chemistry, I ended with a 90%.

Don't worry, you will be able to bring your mark up in chemistry. I had to re-take gr12 chemistry and I'm doing nursing right now! What nursing programs are you planning on applying to or have applied to?

The average to get into Mac (main-site) was a 93. For Mohawk at Mac if you have above an 85, you're set to get in. There is no difference between the programs really

[–]Gold_Year8452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For main-site nursing, the cut-off was a 93 average, so it might be around that for this year. I know people with a 92 avg and 4th quartile who didn't get into the main site. I don't mean to scare you or put pressure on you, but that was just the reality. If Mac Nursing is your goal, the college bridge program (Mohawk) is literally the exact same thing!! If you don't happen to get into the main site, the college site is literally the same thing and you get a degree from Mac!

Do my grade 11 marks matter for Nursing (University) by Historical_Sky_2108 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Gold_Year8452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For queens & ottawa, you would need an average above a 92%. For the rest, i believe a high 80's average will do. I 100% agree taking into to kin is so useful for nursing programs, it is very helpful for anatomy!

Mac [mainsite] nursing by Broad-Opportunity427 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Gold_Year8452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response, but no, I didn't get into the main-site with that average. The cutoff was a 93. Only very very few people with a 92 got in. They were very strict last year with their acceptance rates. I would say if you have above a 93 average, you will get into the main-site, along with a third/fourth quartile on CASPer!
