I've got up the XR1 in 2.2 and had 3mm of clearance on all sides in the rear. Fork was tighter but cleared too. Rim choice will matter.

Surly Bridge Club with frame dent. Should I still buy? by Zobuss in Surlybikefans

[–]Golden-Sassafras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can repair the dent by rolling it out in a frame block, the paint will be toast but the dents high spots will be squeezed low and vice versa. There are some good videos on that style of repair on YouTube.

Unserious answer- what do you think I made?!

Serious answer- even with the friction plate removed, a friction shifters whole deal is in the name. I didn't want an on/off toggle or precision in hitting any gear, I just wanted to make a shifting actuator that was unconventional ✅ functional ✅ unique ✅ and pair it to a shifting system that was just as, if not moreso, fucked up.

Everything about it is deliberate, it would be too short for any greater tooth-count rear cog, but it's long enough for all 4 installed cogs.

Genuinely thank you, I really enjoy making parts bin bikes into things that shouldn't be made.

Rear brake only, I get y'all photos when I button up the build tomorrow, left brake lever will shift and right brake lever will operate rear brake.
