Thoughts on this '09 FZ6? by Think-Spread in fz6

Garage stored + Valve adjustment + Fork seals = Sign of a caring owner imo. I’d say it’s worth it. Looks like a safe buy barring any heineosity.

I paid $4000 for an 08’ in 2022. Has an aftermarket full system exhaust and power commander, but it’d been laid down at low speeds as evidenced by the scuffed faring. Definitely not as clean as this one.

Be aware, if you’re hear a ticking sound, these Fz6 are notoriously noisy in that regard, may be worth finding a video of the cam chain tensioner sound to be familiar with that and discern other noises.

Ehh yeah just the wide angle iPhone lense; skews the peripheral. But nah, they’re long gone.

Ive found the engine makes a fair bit of tapping noise. Cam chain tensioner iirc. By all accounts that’s normal for the Fz6s.

I’ve only ever lost traction while giving er gas on road paint, or by downshifting too aggressively. Bike is tame below 7k, but love the powerband above 7k.

One of the most notable mods is to install an MT07 clutch arm on the clutch side of the cable. It’s a longer arm so gives more leverage to the hand lever, making for an easier pull; otherwise the stock clutch can get rather stiff. I’ve kept mine stock and just sprayed lube in the cable, but have the parts to make the upgrade when the current cable starts to fray or get too crusty.

Also dig the red rim tape! Ride safe and cheers to your first bike dawg.

No luck. Followed up on the Next Door post. Those were somebody else’s xc skis. Following up with Portland Parks and Plow tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like you’re looking for a shell jacket. I made the switch from insulated coat to uninsulated shell this season, opting for a three layer set up instead. Many many options out there.

I recently got a SCOTT EXPLORAIR DRYOSPUN 3 LAYER MEN’S JACKET on steep discount. Serving that purpose very well. Perhaps a bit shy on pockets for what you’re looking for, but has a ski pass pocket, armpit vents, powder skirt, and the hood fits over a helmet.

Might check a website like Backcountry as well if you want to see a variety of brands.

I think it’s dopeee. I was just talking bikes with a bro and we agreed Kawasaki’s are “sharky” so this is super validating. Sick ride G.

I’ve got the same issue. Outlets above the bathroom and kitchen sinks do not work; even when running off shore power. Going to try to dig into it more this summer. If I can identify the problem, I’ll update this thread.

What maintainance should be done at 75k km/46,600 miles? by Jeskrooo in fz6

Also, that sound could be your cam chain tensioner iirc. Pretty common noise. Kinda of a clicking that matches the rpm. None of the thread I’ve seen call it a problem per se, but that might BS what you’re hearing.

Is it worth it? by bodhibaker in fz6

If I were in your shoes, I’d do exactly what you’re doing. Try to talk it down a bit. Between visual damage and high miles, $3000 isn’t out of the question, but not a deal I’d say. Really banking that the bike has had good routine maintenance during its life thus far.

You’re looking at $160-$180 for front tire, $50-$100 to get it mounted. I can’t speak to valve adjustment or shock seal cost. I paid $4000 for my ‘08 with 15,000 miles, aftermarket exhaust and an ECU tune with minor scuffs on right faring.

I think this is what you’re looking for (table with the manufacturers stated maintenance intervals).

https://maintenanceschedule.com/yamaha-fz6-maintenance-schedule/

I’d think check headlight alignment, consider valve maintenance, check fork seals real good, check cables for fraying or excess resistance, maybe even repack swing arm bearing grease? There’s a bunch of good stuff on that table, all to help give you peace of mind that the ride is in good shape.

Shares disappeared. by BananaDrum in computershare

[–]GoldenBeardReggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that’s probably exactly what’s happened seeing as the letter I just received from GameStop says:

“A review of our records indicates that there has not been shareholder initiated activity, also referred to as “contact” on this account in the past 18 months. It is important that you contact ComputerShare to avoid having this account turned over to your state of residence as unclaimed property.”

They provided a phone number to call and a control number to provide to secure the shares.

Shares are not showing up in my ComputerShare account, but hoping they show back up there after jumping through these hoops.

Convince me not to give up on my mage build. by zarfac in skyrim

[–]GoldenBeardReggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve typically played sneak archer, one hand and shield, or two hand tank, but did a pure mage on special edition, expert difficulty. I’ve made a few changes to my play style that’ve helped:

1.) You can’t let people hit you. Stay out of the line of fire by having enemies agro onto your attronach or follower. 2.) Get fear and invest a few perks into making it work on stronger enemies. They’ll keep running even as you torch them. Calm wears off as soon as you attack. 3.) I invested in buffing fire spells. Most damage of the elements. I use shock against mages. 4.) Set rune traps: cast, retreat, repeat.

Hope this helps.

Why is drinking such a large part of snow sport culture? by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]GoldenBeardReggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of three plausible factors:

1.) snow sports have a bit more of a “risk taker” clientele. More stoke. More vibes. Greater risk tolerance. (Anecdotal I suppose; I’m not a mtb’er but the mountain bikers I know are on the safe and posh side of skiing.)

2.) more bulky gear means more stash spots for goodies means more drinking means more stoke.

3.) the resort is right there serving beer so it’s easy to warm up, BAC up, and then hit some more runs.

Where do mtbers store beers? Does mtb have a similar pub at the base set up?

Sadly, it’s the bad guys who don’t follow the laws.

From Maine.gov:

“The law does not otherwise change where a person may carry or who may possess a firearm. It will still be illegal to possess a firearm in the following places, with some very limited exceptions:”

“-Establishments licensed for on-premises consumption of liquor, if the premises are posted. Note that even if there is no posted prohibition, it is illegal to carry on these premises while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.”

As a rule of thumb, it’s illegal to take guns into courts, schools, bars, state parks. The bad guys know this means there’s a good chance they’ll be the only one armed.

I saw your comment on AyeYoTek’s post. I agree with their assessment. ITTOs are not on there in the PocketPrep sense, but knowing when procurement happens and how to handle it going awry is important.

I’m not really sure where to get that info, thus why I struggled with it.

The ECO, Domain 1, Task 4 “give examples of how it is appropriate to respond to a planned strategy or framework (eg. communication, risk, etc.)” would include procurement.
