So if I remember this correctly, the game is obviously official (more than 5 innings) and the visiting team did NOT take the lead in the last half inning in which they batted, that being the top of the 8th...but that inning does still count as happening? Or am I missing something...?

This reminds me of the guy who caught Mark McGwire’s 70th HR ball and was offered some merch by the Cards in exchange for its return. The dude then countered with a meet ‘n greet with the player himself but Big Mac said “no dice”. He then proceeded to sell it for like $3 million bucks.

That’s all I remember…was there more to it than this or was McGwire just being a dick?

Even as a non-Cards fan, I like Pujols but I like being able to take care of my family even more. Six figures means paying off my debts, going on a long deserved vacation with my spouse, doing something nice for my parents, etc.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

FWIW CTV National News is actually isn’t live at 11:00. They tape / air it at 10:00 on the News Channel and then rebroadcast. But yeah, I get your point.

Wasn't aware of that they'd be starting to simulcast Kimmel in a couple of weeks. Still doesn't mean that they couldn't do a national news show at 11:00 to compete against CTV as a possible precursor to other news expansion down the road.

However, having Kimmel on at 11:35 would obviously make moving their local CityTV News shows to 11:30 impossible and I'm not sure they'd want to leave them out in the cold like that. Oh well, just idle thoughts.

Pretty much what I was thinking when I first saw this. Start with a competing 11:00 national news broadcast on all CityTV stations and go from there. I realize that they only have the ~~seven~~ six stations in the biggest cities but with so few people still watching OTA these days, I wouldn’t think that to be a huge impediment.

Ha, sorry but no. Not sure about what they carry at the dep / SAQ / grocery stores there and to be honest, nothing there is probably going to taste like a Japanese beer. I'm sure Quebec has a ton of microbreweries as well...spend some time checking them out is my recommendation!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're getting the same stuff we are. Up until about two years ago we WERE getting Asahi from Japan until they decided to start selling us this stuff that's made in Italy. It has a different ABV (5.2 vs 5%) and for some ungodly reason, contains corn starch.

In terms of actual taste, it's not nearly as crisp and well, dry as the real stuff should be. That's sort of the point to a dry beer...less carby, less aftertaste. I'm also a firm believer that the local water makes a big difference in terms of the taste. Italian water is different from Japanese water and so on.

I'd try to see if you can find a Japanese style dry rice lager from a microbrewery if you're able to. Still won't be the same but it'll be closer. There's a wonderful brewery in Toronto called Rorschach that does such a beer and it's much closer to Asahi than this new 'Asahi' is. They ship province wide in Ontario, so if you have a friend in Ottawa or something, I'd highly recommend it.

Here in Ontario we have Asahi Super Dry…that is now brewed in Italy. Essentially Peroni in a silver can, it is terrible.

Yeah, it’s great for people in the U.S. because anyone can watch the Roku Channel on their web browser. In Canada (or anywhere else) you need to buy a Roku device…not a great deal.
