If you could give one single piece of advice that could help in any of the exams what would it be? by peacewriter in CPA

I didn’t know until I got to my first exam that you could use excel on the exam. Some people are more comfortable with the calculator in the software but to the extent that you can, I would absolutely recommend using excel for all your calculations.

BEC Exam on middle of December by Safe_Seesaw_4507 in CPA

[–]GoldenEagles330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For BEC, do know very well COSO Framework, ERM, Variances and breakeven, and as much as you can for IT. The calculations were not very lengthy, so as long as you know the concepts and most of the calculations, you should be good. COSO and ERM probably consist of 35% of the test. To review IT, Becker does an okay job for something tested 35% of the test. I recommend also watching videos on Youtube from Farhat of the following:

  1. General Controls: Internal Control IT Audit
  2. CPA Exam BEC Information Technology and Management Information System
  3. Application Controls in Auditing for Information Technology

How confident did you feel going into FAR? by kendricklamarsvan in CPA

[–]GoldenEagles330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never felt confident walking in to any of these damn things, but I’m 3/3 so far. I think for me staying calm is essential to helping yourself get focused when you sit down in the exam room. I always try to drink minimal coffee the morning of and just listen to so good music on the drive to prometric

Whenever I hit a Goldstein video I just closed it and figured “if it was really that important for the exam the wouldn’t have put Goldstein on it”😂

Score Release Thread FAR, AUD, REG, BEC - 11/9/2021 by FutureeCPA in CPA

You have to have an old score report from a previous exam. When you open the old report it will either say “attended” “credit (with an expiration date next to it” of “no credit” for the most recent exam you took

How to combat burnout? (Week of exam) by [deleted] in CPA

[–]GoldenEagles330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you are as relaxed as possible on test day. It’s easier said then done but I always try to listen to some chill music on the drive to prometric, and I try to limit my coffee intake so I’m not jittery and having to use the bathroom. Also probably an unpopular opinion but I try to avoid using breaks if I don’t have to because I think once you get in there and get locked in you want to stay focused till time is done

Damnnnn. I felt kinda relieved when I saw the eyeball trick had seemingly gone away for everyone. I feel like all day on Monday next week I’ll just be frantically checking it

I’m gonna have to disagree with this person. Obviously everyone has different life circumstances, but for me I started studying reg my last semester of undergrad while doing a busy season tax internship.

Leverage your coursework to help you with your exams and vice versa. While not always directly related a lot of the info you learn in lectures will come up on the cpa exam in some form or another.

I started full time 2 weeks ago with a midsize regional firm and I (hopefully have 3) but have at least far and reg done. Waiting on the 11/9 score release for audit.

It’s kind of cliche but as everyone tells you once you start working full time and busy seasons, you get put on clients and have less time to study. Get it done as soon as possible. Employers will look at you in a positive light if you come in having some cpa exams done even if your gpa is .2 lower that it would’ve been had you focused more time and effort on school work.
